Gators could move on from Little as Gators expected to make a move for USF's Francois Sr.
Jimmy Steele -- The Gainesville Sun

With his first season in the books, Alex Little might not be guaranteed a second one after the Florida Gators won just one game this past season. According to multiple sources, the Gators are at least one program that are expected to make a run at current USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr.

Francois Sr's future at USF has been in limbo the past few months due to off the field scandals that could see sanctions come down on the Bulls football program which may include scholarship losses, vacated championships and a suspension for Francois Sr.

Blake Gold of the Swamp 247 Podcast confirmed The Gainesville Sun's initial reporting that there is interest from both sides, should Little be fired:

If they do move on from [Little], a name that I was wondering about was USF offensive coordinator Mario Greer and what I got consistently from people that would know about this, would be involved in the decision making and in the fundraising process for buyouts and that stuff is 'why stop there? Go for the big fish'. I was then told that back channel conversations have been had, there is interest, from both parties, and there is a scenario where he ends up here. Now how likely is that? Who knows but this thing is real.

Gold cited Francois Sr's desire to remain in the state of Florida as one of the reasons he might pick the Gators if his tenure at USF does come to an end as well as his 'infatuation' with true freshman quarterback Kyle Clemens and his potential, who Francois Sr. sought after on the field this past season to speak to following the Bulls 28-16 victory over the Gators.

Texas puts a halt to USF's undefeated season
Texas kept throwing their best shot and each time, the Bulls would come up off the canvas.

A blitz off the edge on 4th and short proved to be the haymaker as Jeff Jones' pass fell incomplete due to the pressure, sealing Texas' 47-35 win over USF to win the SEC and most likely punch their ticket into the College Football Playoffs.

Jones was intercepted twice, including once in the endzone, which proved to be the difference maker as USF continued to lose bodies, ending the game without receiver Marques Iosefo, tight end Chris Wallace and safety Zach Mack, all key players who left with injuries.

While Jones' two interceptions proved costly, Texas' Brandon Rogers could do no wrong. After USF managed to tie the game following a slow start, Rogers broke several tackles en route to a 61-yard touchdown run, emblematic of what was an uncharacteristically sloppy and poor performance from USF's top ranked defense.

Once USF tied the game once more, Rogers had another big play, this time with his arm as he completed a 57-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Utley with 1:24 left in the game. On the same drive, USF had gotten the Bulls to 3rd and 16 but allowed a 20-yard completion to not only keep the Texas offense on the field but allow them to retake the lead.

USF's offense then failed to score while Texas went down the field in less than 39 seconds and kicked a field goal to extend their lead to ten.

The Bulls got it going to open the second half, stopping the Texas offense first and then scoring a touchdown to make it a three point only to have Texas lead their own methodical drive before punching it in from one-yard out. USF responded with their first big play of the game as Bobby Jackson broke off a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play of the next drive.

Not to be outdone, Rogers found Jermaine Rogers for a 59-yard completion on the next drive. Four plays later, the quarterback punched it in to extend the lead. Jones would be intercepted on the next play which led to another field for Texas.

Jessica West -- SI.com

The redshirt senior had just thirty one carries to his name prior to his breakout campaign this past fall.
