When you have those position battles and someone is the clear better player in terms of ratings what are you looking for to make a choice other than the higher rated guy?

Let's see that repeat finally. How many seasons for Francois now?
I believe this is his 23rd season.

I have a ratings adjuster spreadsheet which puts more value into specific ratings that a specific offense would value (ie speed at QB isn't necessary for an air raid offense so has a lower impact in the player's overall rating) and I also try to apply real life scenarios ie balancing seniority vs. getting young guys playing time so they don't transfer. I also get some practice snaps in with different combinations of players and if any of them have good performances, I try to factor that in as well.

The Last Dance: USF's prolific trio ready to put on a show once more
Johnny Murray -- The Tampa Bay Times Sports Columnist

Marques Iosefo had never been east of Utah when he first visited IMG's sprawling campus which features a $6 million field house and $19 million dorms. The Hawaii native, then a senior, wanted to get a jump on the college experience and prepare himself for it by attending high school football's preeminent program which is more college than high school. One of the first people that greeted him while he was on campus was his eventual quarterback for the next three years.

"It's not like most high schools," says Iosefo of his time at IMG, "You have guys from all over the country, all over the world, three different teams within a team so it's not as close knit of a locker room but with Chris [Wallace] and Jeff [Jones], we just clicked."

Jones, a star quarterback from Port Charlotte, had been at IMG since his sophomore season. Despite being just an hour away from his hometown, it was an adjustment as well for Jones who already was reserved. Jones became the starter for IMG's national team after playing for the varsity team as a sophomore. Beginning that year, on the varsity team was a talented but skinny sophomore receiver that Jones had started to grow chemistry with during the spring before he got moved up to the national team. After just two games, the receiver -- Chris Wallace -- got promoted to the national team as well and would be one of Jones' top targets that season.

Wallace moved to tight end before the next season, Iosefo enrolled at IMG and Jones would find them early and often, both on and off the field.

"We just had good chemistry with each other," says Wallace, "Marques and Jeff are kind of quiet dudes and I'm definitely not so I'd always be messing with them but they're like my big brothers for real."

After just one season of playing together, Jones and Iosefo decided to attend USF together.

"It was an easy decision once Jeff committed to USF," Iosefo says of his recruitment, "It was them or Alabama and after already having to adjust myself to a new culture, I felt that going just an hour north with my teammate and best friend would definitely make another adjustment easier."

The younger Wallace would transfer back to his hometown school in Plantation, Florida and play his senior season at American Heritage. As soon as USF would accept his commitment, he made the move to rejoin his former high school teammates. Last season, both of them were lifelines for Jones as transfers and injuries decimated USF's roster when it came to pass catchers with Iosefo leading the team in receiving touchdowns and Wallace leading the team in receptions and yards.

Iosefo and Jones are both juniors with first round possibilities in what could be their final college season. It's not lost on any of them that this season could be their last dance together.

"We're going to have fun," says Jones, "Who knows what happens once the season is over but it's definitely something we're going to cherish."

If is their last season, Wallace has a parting gift for Jones.

"We're going to [Jones] the single-season touchdown record," says Wallace, "That's for sure and the all-time touchdown and yards record, he's leaving with everything this year, Heisman, all that."

Case Keenum holds the NCAA record for career passing yards with 19,127 and passing touchdowns with 155 while Colt Brennan has the record for most passing touchdown in a single season with 58. Jones fell one touchdown shy of Brennan's record last season and needs 7,997 passing yards and 47 touchdowns for Keenum's record.

Would he return next year for a chance to break Keenum's record?

"You never know," says a smiling Jones.

Bulls go young along the offensive line as McKinney, Booker set to start
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

The University of South Florida has released its first official depth chart of the season ahead of it's season opener with notable true freshmen starting.

Both Ed McKinney and Chris Booker were able to win the starting jobs at guard as true freshman despite Booker not arriving on campus until the summer. Other true freshmen that were listed as starters or co-starters include receiver Derek Young, cornerback Kenny Fowler and safeties Mark Robinson and Wesley Adams.

Keith Oliver is marked as a co-starter with Chris Wallace at tight end despite Wallace being a preseason All-American. Wallace is more receiver than tight end and in Doug Nussmeier's pro style offense, Oliver's blocking abilities are likely to be more valued than they were in Mario Greer's Air Raid offense last year.

Interesting to see Hardy not starting at one of the guard spots despite the ratings advantages
