'Leader of the pack' Moses commits to Bulls over Gators, Tide
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
No need for the dramatics, the top ranked recruit in the country Joseph Moses announced his commitment to the South Florida Bulls on Saturday evening after being on campus for the team's final fall scrimmage.
The six-foot-two receiver out of nearby Hillsborough High School had previously intimated that he might drag his recruitment into February with the intention of visiting Florida, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Miami and Florida State but after being on campus all day on Saturday on an unofficial visit, he decided to pull the trigger.
"This is home to me," Moses told 247 Sports of his commitment to USF, "The coaching staff always makes me feel welcome, I always feel like I got a place here and to get a chance to play for coach [Malcolm Francois Sr.] was just an opportunity I couldn't turn down."
The latest star receiver to commit to the Bulls, Moses is a physical receiver that compares very favorably to former USF receivers Derrick Byrd and Darius Downs. Ideally, Moses is a big slot receiver although he does have the ability to potentially play the Z position on the outside which is where Byrd and Downs played.
Far from a burner, there are reasonable concerns that slower, bigger receivers haven't fared that well at USF. Most notably, there are five-stars Andrew Rivas, Nigel Medley, and even Byrd who was productive but not on the expected level of a five-star.
Moses looked all of 210 pounds during his most recent visit at USF, which have been frequent. Since his junior season, he's unofficially visited the Bulls fifteen times according to 247 Sports Visit Tracker. Moses says he now has his sights set on recruiting other players to jump on board, starting with quarterback Jet Millines.
"We need Jet, I need Jet, I need everybody to come on and roll with us. We're going to have a really strong class," says Moses, "I'm trying to be the leader of the pack, you feel me, get everybody in this [class] so we can go win these champions."
The Bulls are trending in the right direction for Millines as well as for offensive guard Woody Humphrey who has an announcement scheduled for August 21st. Humphrey, the top ranked guard in the nation, is deciding between USF, Oregon, Michigan State and Michigan. Georgia nor Georgia Tech cracked the top four for the Peach State native.

Young beats out Robinson, McCarthy for No. 4 jersey following highly anticipated race
Johnny Murray -- The Tampa Bay Times Sports Columnist
USF true freshman running back William Sapp had no choice but to be fast given that his father, former USF receiver Franklin Sapp, was amongst the fastest players in college football during his tenure with the Bulls and continue to be so for thirteen seasons in the NFL as one of pro football's premier return specialist.
Even Sapp was in awe as juniors Derek Young, Dionte McCarthy and Mark Robinson raced for the No. 4 jersey.
"I thought I was super fast until I got here," says Sapp, whose father started the tradition of the team's fastest player being award the number, "I'm still pretty fast but those guys, they're different and you can tell the years of training really help them take their speed to another level."
Sapp hopes to one day get the opportunity to wear it but for now, it belongs to Young who won the race. He'll be making the switch from No. 9 who was promptly scooped up by receiver Brian Harris who wore No. 13 last season.
Traditionally, the coaches decide after summer workouts who the honor belongs to but this time around, it was such a close call that a race was required. Even with the second place finish, McCarthy isn't ready to give up the mantle as the team's fastest player.
"He beat me for sure," said a smiling McCarthy, "But it's not over, never that. He can have the number, that's cool but I'm never going to say he's faster than me and he knows that."
The two have been roommates since they were recruiting classmates in the 2035 recruiting class with Young as a five-star running back and McCarthy a four-star receiver. Since their arrival, it's McCarthy whose been at running back and Young at receiver but things are changing in new OC Jeremy Butler's offense. Young's been splitting time at both running back and receiver, a move that McCarthy welcomes after the departure of senior Jason Gibson to UCF.
"[Young] has always been giving me pointers here and there about the position," says McCarthy of their relationship, "He's played it more than me so I learn from him every day so having him in the room with all of the young guys, it's a great situation for everyone."

Lots of Georgia Tech interest on that board...
For real though, you think Moses would be in the slot? I'm guessing his hands are going to be gold looking at those metrics.

Bulls high-level recruiting along the offensive line continue with a commitment from Georgia's Humphrey
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
Top 25 prospect and the top ranked offensive guard in the nation Woody Humphrey has committed to the University of South Florida, picking the Bulls over finalists Oregon, Michigan and Michigan State.
Humphrey, listed at six-foot-one and 268 pounds, is a really good athlete with a frame that has little to no bad weight. He'll need to continue adding on size in order to play in the Champions Division but his physicality and effectiveness as a blocker could land him some early playing time.
The Bulls even like him at right tackle which is his current high school position although his built is more that of an interior linemen. The comparison for Humphrey is former USF offensive lineman Cedric George who played tight end, right tackle, left tackle and guard for the Bulls during his tenure as a versatile chest piece up front.
He joins Joseph Moses, the nation's top ranked recruit, as the second member of a 2038 class that's off to a promising start.

Oh this is the most Heisman situation anyone could ever wish for with Young. Those skills, in that role?
Also, Sapp not as elite as I thought... on paper at least. But him and Valentine have some Reggie Bush/LenDale White vibes going.

Yeah, his acceleration is good, just not elite, and the rest of his ratings outside of speed are mid. However, a lower overall rating likely makes him a four-year player which means he could end up being a 99 speed guy by his senior season
