Editor's Note:
I will be re-implementing the college football playoffs for the national championship as the end of last season, championship wise, felt a bit anti-climatic. In the interest of brevity, not going to drag out a storyline and instead just have an article announcing the details, effective immediately. I will be keeping the promotion/relegation system. More details soon.
Go Bulls.

The College Football Playoffs is back after one-year hiatus, effective immediately
Heather Watts -- ESPN.com Senior Writer
An eight team playoff for college football has been formally approved by a presidential oversight committee which included the leaders of the American National Athletic Conference and conference commissioners of the remaining conferences.
The four-team playoffs were scrapped last season following the merger of several ACC, Big Ten and SEC teams to form the ANAC, a relegation/promotion style conference that held its own national championship last season.
The top four seeds from the Champions Division will be awarded an automatic bid with a Champions Division Championship being competed at the end of the regular season to determine the top two seeds. The fifth seed will be awarded to the Contenders Division Champion from the ANAC and the remaining three seeds will be selected by a playoff committee making it possible for a non-ANAC member, such as South Alabama last season, to compete for a national championship.
The quarterfinals will be held at the higher seed's home venue, semifinals and the national championship game will be held at current bowl sites.
The promotional and relegation system of the ANAC will still be in effect with the only change being the scrapping of the promotional playoffs. The bottom four of the Champions Division will be relegated and the top four of the Contenders Division will be promoted. A winning of the National Championship by a non-promoted Contenders or Rising Division member will result in the automatic promotion and relegation of the 11th Champions Division seed. Non-ANAC members are not eligible for promotion into the league even with a national championship.

QB competition to bleed into the season as Francois Sr. announces co-starters for season opener
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
The University of South Florida has released its first official depth chart of the season ahead of it's season opener and the quarterback competition is not over with Jared Chavis and Charlie Cooke being listed as co-starters.
USF head coach Malcom Francois Sr. did not go into details on how the snaps would be divided in the season opener against Florida and only commented that both quarterbacks would get the opportunity to compete.
"We're all about competition so [quarterback] is not exempt from that," Francois Sr. told the media, "They've done some things right, they've both made mistakes, they've both grown from those mistakes so until we see it in live action, I'm not sure how you can put one player in front of another."
The Bulls also have listed co-starters at receiver with two true freshman in Alston Marks and Joseph Moses with open season at corner with Bryan Carter, K.J. Waters and Julius Hughes listed at co-starters there.

Bulls defense nearly outscores Gators offense in opening rout
The talk coming out of the offseason was that USF's offense just 'ran smoother' when three-star quarterback Jared Chavis was at the helm despite former five-star Charlie Cooke being far and away the more talented quarterback.
It didn't take long for USF's quarterback controversy to get put to bed as Chavis threw two touchdown passes in Cooke threw two interceptions in USF's 59-16 win over the Florida Gators on Saturday night.
Cooke's two first half interceptions weren't enough to stop the USF onslaught as true freshman K.J. Waters' 101-yard pick six was all USF's fans needed to send Raymond James Stadium into a deafening frenzy that lasted through the blowout.
Waters was one of three true freshmen to reach the endzone as five-star receiver Alston Marks also scored a touchdown with quarterback Jet Millines scoring

USF Bulls take Miami Hurricanes to school 44-13
USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. did not name a starting quarterback heading into the Miami game and instead said the quarterback competition was ongoing. After starting the game completing his first thirteen passes to jump out to a 21-0 lead, it's safe to say the competition is over.
"We wanted someone to win the job and make it hard to not play them," Francois Sr. said after the game, "Jared [Chavis] certainly did that."
Chavis threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns in USF's 44-13 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday night.
Already up 28-10, the Bulls had a chance to extend their lead before the end of the half but Chavis fumbled the ball at the 4-yard line which then led to a safety on the next play to extend their lead and give Chavis the ball back with 40 seconds and a chance to add some more. Chavis would be intercepted trying to go deep across the middle, setting up Miami's second field goal of the quarter and would prove to be their last points.
Even with the two turnovers in consecutive drives, Chavis stayed in the game until the fourth quarter where Charlie Cooke played the last drive, attempting just one pass. He mainly handed the ball off to Dionte McCarthy who rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns, including a 57-yarder in the fourth quarter.
