Good luck with this man. I actually just put up. I’m gonna get back into madden as well for the same reason. Kinda need to stop burning through so much Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh was actually one of my teams but now that you’re rolling with them they’re only for you, brother. Good luck with them good luck trying to find a QB Rogers as old as dust but you are gonna need a new QB.
Don't want to lose early, but it may be whats best for the team to get a high pick :kghah:

One thing is for sure - I'm tired of re-tread QBs

Thanks man! Definitely have the goal of ending the ancient QB carousel we've started recently.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 Season Preview

“The Standard is the Standard.” Mike Tomlin’s mantra has defined the Pittsburgh Steelers for nearly two decades. But in recent years, the “standard” has quietly shifted: keep Tomlin’s streak of above-.500 seasons alive, even if it means masking deep flaws with duct tape. Since the decline and retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh has cobbled together just enough offense to reach the postseason, leaning heavily on a defense asked to play at near-perfect levels.

The pattern has become familiar. The defense opens the season dominant, only to wear down under the strain of compensating for an offense stuck in neutral. Last year’s humiliating 28–14 playoff loss to Baltimore was the latest reminder: when December arrives, Pittsburgh’s D often looks spent.

A Familiar Gamble at Quarterback

Steelers fans hoped this offseason would finally spark real investment in fixing the anemic offense. Instead, the front office doubled down on another short-term patch, signing 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers.

Is Rodgers a future Hall of Famer? Absolutely. Can he distribute the ball quickly? Of course. But that style, which leaned toward risk avoidance with the Jets, often blunted offensive explosiveness. And Pittsburgh needs more than just “avoiding negatives.” Statistically, this has been one of the league’s least efficient 10-win teams in recent memory—ranking near the bottom in yards per play, EPA, and success rate while living off turnover margins (+16 in 2024) and one-score-game luck (15–6 over the last two seasons).

Rodgers might stabilize the position, but he isn’t likely to transform an offense that has lagged well behind the league’s elite.

Defensive Firepower, But For How Long?

The good news: Pittsburgh’s defense remains loaded. A revamped secondary featuring Jalen Ramsey, Darius Slay, and Joey Porter Jr. could be one of the best units in football. The linebacking corps is fast, versatile, and still anchored by T.J. Watt—who just inked a new contract and remains determined to prove he’s still the NFL’s premier defensive player.

But even elite defenses can only hold for so long if the offense fails to sustain drives. The concern, once again, is that this unit will be running on fumes come December—just in time for another early playoff exit.

Looking Beyond 2025

Behind the optimism lies a quiet reality that many fans are whispering: Rodgers isn’t the future, and the organization knows it. With multiple third-round picks and few glaring needs outside quarterback, the Steelers are well-positioned to maneuver for their long-term answer under center. The challenge, of course, is cost. Jumping from a playoff-caliber draft slot into the top five would be prohibitively expensive. Sliding into the 6–10 range, however, could make a quarterback attainable without mortgaging the farm.

The Steelers openly tanking feels unthinkable. But if Rodgers struggles, the team starts slow, and the defense once again shows cracks under the weight of carrying too much, the call to look toward the future will only intensify.

Bottom Line: The Steelers’ 2025 season will hinge on whether Rodgers can keep the offense competent enough to complement an elite defense. Otherwise, “The Standard” may once again mean little more than nine wins, a tired defense, and an early playoff exit—while fans keep one eye on the draft board.

I really like our defense. Just not sure the offensive firepower is there but it would be tough to be worse than the past few years have been

Offensively will be rough I predict. We have the benefit that the game defense won't be exhausted by December like their real life counterpart will inevitably be. Just not realistic to expect them to play perfect all year. We give up two touchdowns and we're in trouble
