2025 RECAP
YOST RETURNS TO TOLEDO/SCOTT PROMOTED TO OC
After 30+ years, David Yost is becoming a Head Coach, returning to one of his former schools as he takes over HC duties at Toledo (was QB coach from 1996-2000). Yost the QB whisper who helped NMSU average 32..2 PPG (2nd in CUSA, Kennesaw State was 1st at 33.6) will now turn to Recruiting Coordinator/WR Coach Ryne Scott to take the reigns.
Sanchez-
"Ryne is ready.. He proved it this year not only with the work he did off the field with our recruiting class but also with how he worked with Coach Yost and the development of our WR's. Like Coach Yost, I believe Coach Scott has a very long career ahead of him.. He was the first one here every morning this past year and the last one to leave."

The Aggies also will need to replace JR RB Dijon Stanley who before getting hurt was on his way to a potential 1000 yd season for the Aggies.. The Utah transfer hit the portal and signed with Oregon State. Stanley finished the season with 160 carries for 619 yds and 5 TD's appearing in 8 games.
JR WR TK King (79 Ovr)-52 rec 806 yds 2 TD, 20 KR 575 yds (28.8 avg) 33 PR 421 yds (12.8 avg) joined him despite being projected as the teams #2 WR next season. King will play his final season against the Aggies biggest rival as he joins the Lobo's.
**(I currently have the Transfer Portal Capped at 7 players per team and a 30% chance of players leaving for both User and CPU)**
Sanchez "The Portal is a tricky thing to navigate. When guy's come here and play a big role they of course are going to get offers.. We don't have alot of NIL money to work with.. It's getting better but the reality is there are times when the only thing we can really offer is the ability to come here and play and the promise that we will work hard to make them better players so that they can go and get their money at another school down the road.. It's hope to end that cycle and instead show kids we can help them become a "Sunday player" and wait just a little longer before they start cashing those checks. Dijon and TK are big shoes to fill but we believe with open spots at QB at RB, we have the ability to offer kids a chance to showcase their skills in a offense that produced some pretty good #'s last year.. We have openings on our Defense too and again will give kids who might be #3 or #4 options on their current teams a chance to start and a chance to make plays"
AGGIES SIGN 31 PLAYERS
Well Scott didn't play a huge role in this year's success on the field, the Aggies future looks bright because of his success off the field as Scott secures the #1 Class in CUSA and the #45 Overall Class in the nation.
The Aggies will add 31 players to the roster including 25 high schoolers led by 4* WR Lamont Poutasi (#136 Overall/#3 NM/#28 WR) from Albuquerque New Mexico, 3* WR Chad Awe (#472 Overall/#18 IL/#85 WR) from Elmhurst Illinois.. Scott also landed talented 3* RB Ramon Hills (#543 Overall/#6 CO/#55 RB) from Denver Colorado who could very well play as a true freshman next season..
Scott and Sanchez didn't load up on high school talent though, as they brought in 3 players via the Jucco route including 3* QB Brian Faulk (#768 Overall/#6 NV/#41 QB.
Scott and Sanchez didn't stop there though as they also 6 players via the Transfer Portal.
3* QB Akili Smith Jr (Oregon) is the son of former Ducks QB and NFL 1st Round (Cincinnati Bengals) Akili Smith SR... Smith is expected to jump into QB1 role Day 1.
Joining Smith is a teammate in 3* RB Jayden Limar..a Redshirt JR originally from Lake Stevens WA is joined by another 3* RB in USC's Bryan Jackson.. Jackson originally from McKinney TX ..
Limar spent 2024 on the injury list at Oregon and didn't play well Jackson received just 6 carries last season for the Trojans.
Scott "Losing Dijon hurt and Kaderius (Calloway) did amazing job filling in and carrying the load down the stretch, but to be honest the additions of Jayden and Bryan plus the additions of guy's like Ramon Hills, Gordon Brown (3* Athlete who moved to RB) and Kion Abiamiri (another 3* we signed late) gives us the belief that are RB room has the potential to be even better next year"
Well NMSU didn't add a WR in the portal they did come away with a very big TE as 6'6 245 Caden Jensen (Louisiana) joins the mix at TE next season.. A A redshirt Sophomore, Jensen could slide into the #2 TE role and be a starter in 2027.
Scott "After landing Lamont we didn't feel the need to grab a WR in the portal.. We got 2 great WR's coming back with Dononvan Faupel coming off a record setting season and TJ Pride (8 rec 107 yds 1 TD) who we are very high on. However we believe Lamont is a guy who can come in here and start Day 1 in our offense."
Well most of the focus tends to be on the Offensive additions the Aggies also landed 3* Safety Quentin Reddish (Virginia Tech) and 3* CB J'vari Flowers (Florida) both players are instant additions to the starting lineup. Flowers a RS Freshman moves into the #1CB role where hopefully he will shine for the next 4 seasons, well Reddish will take over as the teams starting SS after posting 62 Tackles and a INT last season for the Hokies.
