‣ NFL 2023 Regular Season, Week 17 - Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
(8-7) Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts (3-13)
LV | 10 | 3 | 10 | 0 | 23
IND | 7 | 6 | 0 | 3 | 16
Raiders survive losing QB Jimmy Garoppolo to beat hapless Colts
Raiders rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell won a lot of games at Purdue and in his surprising return to the state of Indiana, it was only fitting that he got his first NFL win.
Replacing Jimmy Garoppolo in the second quarter, O'Connell and the Raiders were able to outlast the Indianapolis Colts to keep their playoff hopes alive with a 23-16 win on Sunday.
Garoppolo left the game with a lower leg injury and did not return. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels declined to comment on the extent of the injury after the game. At the time of the injury, it was a tie game until Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson put together an eleven play drive to take the 13-10 lead thanks to a Matt Gay 31-yard field goal with 1:54 remaining
The Raiders would punt the ball after four plays only for the Colts to go three-and-out, giving the Raiders the ball back with 25 seconds remaining and the ball on the Raiders 33-yard line. O'Connell connected with Adams for a gain of eighteen and six yards on consecutive plays to set up Daniel Carlson's 60-yard field goal which snuck through the uprights as time expired.
Las Vegas would dominate the third quarter, blanking the Colts on defense while O'Connell threw a touchdown pass to Brevin Jordan at the end of the third quarter to extend their lead to ten.
Richardson would lead another long, ten play drive that ended with a Gay field goal to make it a one score game with 3:19 remaining. The Colts would get the ball back with 1:43 remaining after a Raiders punt with no timeouts and a chance to extend the game but Richardson would be sacked on fourth down by a blitzing Divine Deablo to seal the game.

No complaints here. A win is a win and each one matters for the playoff race
