Mason traded as Onwenu extended during bye week
The New England Patriots have traded offensive guard Shaq Mason to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2024 2nd round pick and a 2025 4th round pick.

New England reportedly also fielded offers from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Seattle, Las Vegas, Denver, New York Jets, Jacksonville, New York Giants and Philadelphia before ultimately deciding to ship Mason to the Packers. The Patriots had an agreement in principle with Denver according to ESPN's Adam Schefter but Green Bay was able to swoop in at the last minute and get the deal done.

Green Bay continues to invest heavily around Jordan Love who they signed to an extension earlier this season after bringing D.K. Metcalf to Green Bay this past summer. Mason is on the last year of his deal but Green Bay was able to land one of the league's best interior offensive linemen by reputation although Mason did struggle last season according to PFF.

The trade came hours after New England had extended guard Michael Onwenu to a four-year, $47.8 million to keep the fourth-year guard out of Michigan in Foxborough. Onwenu was credited with allowing just three sacks last season and was a Pro Bowler.

Mason's immediate replacement will likely be Nick Ford, who started at guard for four games this season due to Isaiah Wynn's injury. Ford struggled in his first two starts but started to turn things around and will get to audition for the rest of the season as Mason's long term replacement. Mason is the second offensive linemen from New England to be traded this season along with David Andrews, leaving New England with one of the younger offensive lines in the league.

In other roster news, New England has elevated wide receiver Josh Johnson from their practice squad. The roster spot was made available following the trade of Mason and with Tutu Atwell set to miss the next few weeks with a broken rib, the speedy receiver gets a chance to secure a roster spot for next season as a futures contract.

Mac throws for 439 yards and three touchdowns in 38-28 win over Browns
For two minutes, nothing went right for New England as Damien Harris fumbled the ball on the Cleveland 27-yard line, C.J. Stroud completed passes of 25 and 49 yards to Donovan People Jones on the next two plays -- the second one being a touchdown, and John Johnson III picked off Mac Jones and returned it for a touchdown.

Cleveland would score just once more for the rest of the game as Mac Jones threw for 439 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-clinching toss to Damien Harris with 1:43 to seal New England 38-28 win over Cleveland on Monday night.

Down 28-10 with two minutes left in the game, New England started to turn the tide as Jones completed passes of fifteen, sixteen, and thirty-five yards during the two-minute drill to get New England their second touchdown of the night and keep Cleveland from running away with it.

The defense took care of the second half, forcing punt after punt while Damien Harris' 26-yard touchdown run opened the second half and Jaire Alexander's interception helped set up Quinn Nordin's 47-yard field goal to tie the game.

Nordin kicked another field goal in the fourth quarter to take the lead after New England had first and goal from the 4-yard line but failed to get it in. After another Cleveland punt, their sixth of the day, Jones led a twelve play drive that took four minutes off the board and this time on 4th and goal from the one-yard line, New England went for it with Jones finding Harris on the sprint out for the touchdown.

Patriots withstand turnover frenzy to take care of Denver 38-27
When it rained, it poured for Mac Jones who threw three interceptions in three consecutive drives, including a pick-six to Justin Simmons that helped Denver go into the half up 24-17.

New England would get a pick six of their own, by veteran safety Jordan Poyer, to trigger the rally and comeback victory in their 38-27 win over Denver on Sunday afternoon.

Jones would finish the game with 319 yards and three touchdowns, including the 37-yard touchdown pass to Charleston Rambo in the third quarter to take the lead.

Denver would threaten to tie the game as Teddy Bridgewater ripped scrambles of 27 and 11 yards to get Denver on the New England 14-yard line but on 3rd and one, Josh Uche was able to track him down for the sack to force Denver to settle for the field goal.

After a New England three-and-out, Bridgewater would throw his second pick six of the day, this time to Jaire Alexander with 6:28 left in the game to put the nail in the coffin.
