QB JORDAN MCALARY DELIVERS A PASS DURING THE VERMILION VS WHITE GAME
Redshirt freshman QB Jordan McAlary looked comfortable for the most part, hitting open throws consistently. He struggled a bit throwing into traffic and was picked off once and had a pass knocked down. Stats were not kept for the game.
D'Eriq Robinette took several reps and as stated before his accuracy has improved. McAlary is definitely the more polished passer. I expect we'll see both at least to start the season due to Robinette's dangerous running ability.
Avery Novak wasn't asked to make any difficult throws or decisions and looked like you would expect from a true freshman a week into the program.
Joeseph Hollins III, Donatelo Franz III and Bryan Jones took the majority of the snaps at RB. All three had good and bad moments. They'll be used in tandem I assume.
The receiver group struggled against a strong secondary and things definitely drop off behind Mikey Porter Sr, who was able to make a couple big plays.
Tight ends were used sparingly but Moody did have a couple of catches. McIntyre had a pass bounce off his hands that was intercepted by Wilson.
The offensive line was a bit concerning. Pass rushers were not hitting quarterbacks and that's a good thing. The coaching staff has some work to do here. Granted, there are three new starters and they haven't worked together much so far.
Defense was the clear winner for sure. They deployed a number of looks and a pile of players. They got consistent pressure on the quarterbacks on any pass that wasn't quickly thrown. They played decent against the run and only gave up a couple longer passed to Porter Sr.
Wilson was the clear leader on defense. Moving players at times and calling coverage audibles.
Special teams did not participate and were off to the side punting and kicking field goals on their own.
