Defense leads the way for Patriots as they blanket Wentz, Colts
It's December, Bill Belichick has a good defense and the New England Patriots are on a winning streak. A tale as old as time.
New England held the Indianapolis Colts offense to just seven points, all in the first quarter, and intercepted Carson Wentz twice in the fourth quarter to beat the Indianapolis Colts 26-7.
The Colts hung around until two fourth quarter interceptions helped set up a 23-yard touchdown pass from Mac Jones to Kendrick Bourne and then Wentz was picked off once more in the final minute on a pass that Kyle Dugger returned for a touchdown.
Jonathan Taylor was held to just 3.9 yards per carry with his longest run being a 15-yard scamper up the left sideline. With the running game neutralized, the Colts offense were forced to rely on a passing attack that has been pedestrian at best this season.
Wentz finished the game with 195 yards passing and no touchdowns while being sacked three times. Jones overcame some misfires to finish 20 of 33 for 220 yards and two long touchdowns to Bourne and Hunter Henry who won jump balls for their quarterback.

Diggs' overtime performance lead Bills past Patriots to retain control of AFC East
For three and a half quarters, the New England defense grounded the Buffalo Bills offense and made Stefon Diggs an after thought.
Diggs and the Bills would reappear from the dead twice, once in regulation to take the lead and again in overtime to beat the New England Patriots 24-18 and take control of the AFC East on Saturday.
A snowy Foxborough helped slow down the Bills aerial attack while New England continued to lean on its running game which kept getting them into the endzone before the offense eventually ran out of gas and relied on Nick Folk, who finished the game with all of New England's eighteen points.
New England scoring three instead of six allowed for the Bills to eventually creep back into the game with Josh Allen starting to push the ball down the field after ending the first quarter with not a single completion and entered the fourth quarter with less than 80 yards passing.
Allen would throw his first touchdown pass of the night to Isiah McKenzie in the endzone with 1:52 left to take a three point lead, setting the stage for Mac Jones to have a Tom Brady-esque moment with plenty of time and his timeouts to pull off the comeback victory.
Jones was once again able to lead the offense into the redzone but failed to get them into the endzone, resulting in Folk's sixth field goal of the game to force overtime. New England had possession first and went three and out.
The Patriots defense sacked Allen early in the drive but Allen was able to convert several third downs, including the game-winning touchdown to Diggs who was being covered by Jalen Mills.
J.C. Jackson had held Diggs to zero receptions when covering him but when Diggs matched up with Mills, he was able to beat him twice in overtime for big catches, none bigger than the walk-off touchdown.

I just didn't want to turn the ball over and sort of messed up the clock a bit towards the end, having only one timeout. Should have done more outbreaking routes but the Pats offense doesn't have a ton of those nor do I have man-beaters at receiver or a strong armed QB to avoid those out routes turning into an easy pick six like in the Titans game.Captain Canada wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 12:35Got to get into the end zone, kingThat's a tough pill to swallow.
fixed. thanks.
