Tampa Bay was one of the five win NFC teams that were eliminated from playoff contention with three weeks left in the season, making it the eleventh season in Adam Gase's 13 year career as a head coach that he has failed to make the playoffs. The hire of Gase was one that was questioned when it happened and even with Jacob Eason seeming like a steal at just $34 million over two years, Tampa could see some changes this offseason.

Gase will make his claim for another year in the last three games, beginning with an attempted upset of the Chargers who clinched the division last week. The Chargers can clinch a bye week with a win and a loss by either the Dolphins or the Jaguars. If all three Florida teams lose this weekend, the Chargers would also clinch the top seed.

Bucs' Fall Short of Upset as Eason Intercepted on Final Drive
Tampa Bay opened the game with a fourteen play, seven minute touchdown drive and then forced a three-and-out. They appeared to be on their way to an early lead until Sean Butler intercepted Jacob Eason, setting up D.K. Metcalf's touchdown to open the game for the Chargers.

With the game on the line, it was Butler intercepting Eason once more, this time to seal the 24-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The Chargers had taken the lead just three minutes prior by getting the ball on the Tampa Bay 11-yard line following a 43-yard completion to Hunter Henry on 3rd and 13. Will Castonzo was sacked on first down but picked up a gain of eight on the next play. On third down, he dumped it off to tight end Stephen Burke who fumbled the ball. Fortunately, Metcalf was able to recover the ball and Badgley's 24-yard field goal gave the Chargers the 24-21 lead with 4:06 left in the game.

Eason completed six straight passes including gains of 16 and 21 before on third and three with 58 seconds left and on the Chargers 17-yard line, he zeroed in on Kenny Yeboah who ran a corner route. Butler appeared to have bit on the play fake but recovered in time to jump the pass.

Nah, Madden got the sim stats wrong....again.

Through 150 games....635 receptions, 8396 yards, 56 touchdowns despite being a high 80s/low 90s player for most of his career.
