Bismarck - In their fourth game of the season Bismarck hosted bitter rival Bismarck Century in an early matchup between two of the top teams in AAA. The game started off with a back and forth as Century threw a number of defensive looks at Bismarck, causing QB Cade Cannon to start off slowly passing the ball. Cannon did get his team on the board first with an eight yard TD run late in the first quarter. Early in the second quarter he added another score, this one coming on a 54 yard run. Century answered then tied the game up with a long fumble recovery touchdown, making it 14-14 at the break.
Century took a 21-14 lead on their first possession of the second half. Cannon and the Bismarck offense answered that score late in the third quarter when Cannon threw a four yard TD pass to RB Layne Johs. Tied at 21-21 the Bismarck defense held and gave Cannon the ball back with four minutes left in the fourth quarter and the senior Minnesota commit was able to lead his team down the field and score the go ahead touchdown on a six yard pass to Ostrander. The defense held Century to a three and out and Cannon took a knee to end the game.
Cannon put on a show, running for over 200 yards and two scores while also throwing for a pair of scores and over 230 yards. He also made a tackle after a turnover, preventing a possible score by Century.
Bismarck improves to 4-0 to retain first place in AAA west. They will travel to face Dickinson next week.
