Bismarck - Bismarck ran their record to 6-0 with a 34-9 win over Jamestown last night. Bismarck QB Cade Cannon tallied just two total touchdowns (one passing and one rushing), his lowest contribution of the season. He threw for 214 yards, also a season low, and ran for 93. A number of drops and shaky pass protection contributed. Jake Neubauer, the team's top linesman, was out with a knee injury and was definitely missed. Layne Johs had a big game, scoring a receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown and a punt return touchdown while contributing nearly 300 all-purpose yards.
"Those guys picked me up tonight." Cannon told me after the game. "It's a team game and you gotta lean on your brothers too."
Bismarck is ranked #1 in the conference. They will face a tough Mandan team next week at home. Mandan was the only team to beat Bismarck last season. Mandan comes into the game with a 4-2 record.
