Yeah he's been unstoppable for a couple of seasons now, an Aaron Rodgers-esque run.

Flyers Outlast the Nailers, 29-16

AUSTIN, TX -- The Austin Flyers will move to 2-0 after defeating Neal Small and the Arkansas Nailers Sunday afternoon, 29-16. The Nailers will fall to 1-1 on the 2015 campaign.

Tailback Kedrick Cole saw an expanded role in the game, his second-ever career start. On 22 carries, he ran for 113 yards and a crucial two-yard score in the fourth quarter. Cole has been a surprising contributor for the Flyers, as he shares carries with 40-year-old, 19-year-pro James Cutler.

"It's just the opportunity I've been waiting for," Cole said after the win. The 26-year-old tailback was drafted in the fourth round out of Utah State by the Stars in 2010 but scored his first career touchdown last year in Austin. "Now I'm getting to show off what I can do."

The old veteran Cutler was impressive as well, as he averaged 8.5 yards per carry with a 26-yard run in the fourth quarter to help take time off the clock.

Arkansas Quarterback Neal Small left last week's game early with a neck injury as Robert Hood led the Nailers to victory against the Jacksonville Conquerors. Despite missing a couple of practices this week, he returned to the starting lineup with decent results. He finished the game completing over 70% of his passes with an early first-quarter interception and a last-minute touchdown. The ten-year vet seemed uncomfortable at times on offense as he struggled to move the ball down the field. Small signed with the Nailers this past offseason, replacing last year's starter Frank Cowart.

Nailers fans watched with despair as the Nailers went five consecutive possessions of punts, interceptions, and safeties before they finally scored on a Rodolfo Johnson 26-yard field goal. The Nailer offense ventured into the Flyer red zone three times all game.

"We were very disappointed on that side of the ball," Nailers first-year head coach Roger Keene. Keene, former Aquatics special teams coordinator and assistant head coach, took his first career loss on the afternoon. "We will look into specifically what we can do better after reviewing the film."

Offensively, the Nailers put up 268 yards of total offense against the Flyers' 479. Austin QB Henry Robinson has another productive performance, despite completing under 60% of his passes. Robinson tossed two more scores and added 332 yards to his yearly total.

Next week, the Nailers will host the high-powered Salt Lake City Wasps and their reigning MVP, Bernard Grove. The 2-0 Austin Flyers will stay at home to play the visiting New Jersey Mights.
