They really stifled the run. But that one-handed haul by Rambo was sick, really set things up.

With Trey Lance and Zach Wilson extended, the table is set for Mac Jones' extension
Four of the five quarterbacks selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft have signed extensions, ranging from Trevor Lawrence's six-year, $151 million deal to remain in Jacksonville to the Jets extending Zach Wilson to the tune of a five-year, $78.3 million deal.

The only quarterback that hasn't signed is Mac Jones and with good reason as he's now guaranteed himself at least Lawrence's deal and likely more. Chicago's Justin Fields is the only other QB in that class to eclipsed the $100 million mark, signing a six-year deal akin to Lawrence that totaled $134 million with $50.2 million of it being guaranteed.

Jones' deal will likely be in the $165-175 million range, similar to Joe Burrow's extension from a season ago. Does he touch the $200 million club that Josh Allen ($246m), Kyler Murray ($224m), Patrick Mahomes ($282m) and Lamar Jackson ($303m) have reached with Justin Herbert ($194m) falling a few millions short?

They're all dynamic athletes with elite physical abilities that Jones' falls short of reaching but he's led his team to the playoffs each season he's been at quarterback and has thrown for over 10,000 yards in the last two seasons.

Other news from the week:

Ronnie Perkins, Jaylon Smith join Ashtyn Davis and Michael Onwenu on injury report
New England Patriots outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins and inside linebacker Jaylon Smith weren't at practice this week and likely won't be for the next month with Perkins dislocating his hip against Seattle and Smith tearing his labrum.

This does not bode well for Perkins' long term future with New England as he's been seeing his role decrease in recent weeks as he loses snaps to DeAngelo Malone and Micah Webb, who already have nearly 100 more snaps played than him this season. Perkins flashed in the post-season last year and has a solid training camp and preseason but the buzz has since died down.

Smith had been a pleasant surprise for New England as one of their better defensive players through six games. Smith has mostly been a sub package guy for when New England goes light in the box with just six players. The most logical replacement is first round pick Gio Whitfield who the team has slowly been bringing along. If Ashtyn Davis weren't injured, it's a position he has experienced playing at during his time with the Jets.

A sleeper pick is safety Jalen Catalon, whose been a special teams ace since elevated from the practice squad. He's a thicker safety at 200 pounds but hasn't played much on defense and throwing him at a different position while still learning the defense might be a tough ask.

Quincey Thompkins continues to make the most of his opportunities
Even with two roughing the passer penalties, Quincey Thompkins' impact was felt on Sunday as he repeatedly harassed Russell Wilson to the tune of a 93 PFF grade, his highest of his career since being released by the Arizona Cardinals as a second round pick.

Thompkins' might be the most clear-cut example of a culture shift in New England since Mike Tomlin took over as he was a player whose off the field issues, mainly work ethic and clashes with the coaching staff, saw him drop to the second round in this past spring's draft only for those same issues to result in Arizona releasing him after the preseason where New England didn't hesitate to only pick him up, sign him to the practice squad, elevate him to the active roster and also giving him an ever-increasing role in the defense.

He's exactly what New England needs in a dynamic player that can both be a stand-up pass rusher or a five-technique in their 3-4 scheme. Tomlin has often says that "he runs to coaching while others run away from it" when it comes to dealing with players that are labeled as problematic and Thompkins appears to be his latest project.

Mahomes, Metchie complete unlikely comeback win against Patriots
The last time New England and Kansas City went into overtime, it was New England's big three of Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski that kept picking up key third downs after another before eventually sending New England into the Super Bowl.

The stakes weren't that high but the intensity was as Patrick Mahomes, without Kansas City's big three of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, led the Chiefs back into the game with two big throws late in he fourth quarter and again in overtime to set up Harrison Butker's game winning 49-yard field goal to beat New England 23-20 on Sunday afternoon.

Metchie III caught eleven passes for 176 yards and a touchdown, the majority of it coming in the last thirty minutes of the game. Mahomes threw for 421 yards and two touchdowns after being bottled up for most of the game as well.
