Watson stars in Dolphins dominant win over Patriots in opener
Miami's second ended last season at the hands of New England who punched their ticket into the playoffs while the Dolphins were stuck once again on the outside looking in.

The Dolphins opened the new season by spoiling New England's home opener as Deshaun Watson threw for 484 yards and four touchdowns in an impressive 33-14 win over the defending AFC East champions on Sunday night.

After making it a 17-14 game with a touchdown to open up the second half and then forcing a punt, New England had a chance to take the lead and got the ball all the way to the Miami two-yard line but a drop by rookie tight end Darnell Washington would result in Brandon Jones' intercepting the pass in the endzone. Six plays later, Watson found Jaylen Waddle for a 36-yard gain to set up another field goal by Jason Sanders.

Waddle finished the game with five receptions for 118 yards, getting the best of big free agent acquisition Jaire Alexander. Devante Parker led the way with 7 receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

New England wouldn't score again as they would miss another field goal while Miami twice found the endzone in the fourth quarter, both on Watson touchdown passes.

Miami was able to shut down New England's running attack, holding Damien Harris to 3.2 yards per carry and Rhamondre Stevenson to three yards per carry, forcing New England to be one dimensional and throw the ball 51 times. Mac Jones completed just 49 percent of his passes but did throw for 371 yards and two touchdowns.

Pats go ahead with Andrews trade despite Wynn injury
The New England Patriots have traded center David Andrews to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a 2024 third and fifth round pick along with a 2025 fourth round pick.

Andrews had previously been traded to the Las Vegas Raiders during the preseason before a failed physical nixed the trade. With Andrews back healthy again, the deal was finalized and New England was able to get an additional 2024 fifth round pick after Chicago had also shown interest in Andrews according to NFL Network's Ian Rappaport

New England elevated Sidney Wells from their practice squad, an addition that was necessary along the offensive line not only because of the Andrews trade but because left tackle Isaiah Wynn is expected to be out for a month with a dislocated hip.

Davon Godchaux was also added to the injury report with a torn labrum and is expected to miss a month as well.
