Seahawks defense leads the way in fourth quarter to beat New England
After Mac Jones sliced up the Seattle defense up and down the field for three quarters, D'Eriq King and the second unit offensive line was a welcome sight for the Seahawks.

King completed just two of his nine passes and was sacked four times as Seattle was able to hang on to their 34-24 win over the New England Patriots in the preseason finale.

Jones and Russell Wilson dueled for three quarters with both quarterbacks throwing three touchdowns and an interception apiece. Jones completed 62 percent of his passes for 177 yards while Wilson at the edge with 84 percent completion and 214 yards. It was Jones, however, who perhaps had the most impressive sequence of the game.

After throwing an interception which led to a Seattle touchdown with 56 seconds left in the game, Jones led New England down the field with just two timeouts in less than 50 seconds, completing an eight-yard touchdown pass to Jakobi Meyers with eight seconds left in the half. Meyers caught two touchdown passes while Kendrick Bourne, New England's other starting receiver, caught two passes for 46 yards in what was his most productive outing of the preseason.

Jones then opened the second half with another long touchdown drive, ending it with a six-yard strike to Braxton Berrios in what would be his last throw of the night.

The Good
1. Two interceptions in his last two outings isn't great but they were both outliers in Mac's play style with one coming in the red zone last week and this week, it was a scramble drill with Mac throwing across his body into the middle of the field, two throws that Mac maybe doesn't make in the regular season. Outside of that, Jones has looked phenomenal and his connection with Meyers is as good as ever.

2. The first team offensive line, even without Trent Brown, looked great and gave Mac plenty of time as well as paved the way for Rhamondre Stevenson to average nearly four yards per carry. It was banged up by the end of the game (see below) but when they were healthy and without arguably the best member of the unit, it looked regular season ready.

3. Roger McCreary matched up with D.K. Metcalf for most of the night and outside of a 24-yard jump ball that Metcalf won on a play where it seems McCreary lost track of the football, McCreary won that matchup. He also was solid in run support which bodes well for his chances to be a starter come week one.

4. It won't mean much with two highly paid tight ends in front of him but Dalton Keene might have had his best day ever, catching four passes for 42 yards with three of those catches resulting in first downs. He looked smooth and two of those four catches were contested and he was able to come down with the football despite the traffic. Again, he likely won't see much playing time with Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry ahead of him but it's still good to know.

The Bad
1. Trent Brown was back at practice which gave New England indication that it would have it's starting offensive line for the opener only for left tackle Isaiah Wynn to get injured and suffer what is reported to be a broken rib. This injury likely keeps Wynn out of the opener and potentially misses a game or two beyond that. New England also lost Jalen Mills to an injury as well as wide receiver Jamal Custis who appears to be headed to the IR. Mills' injury doesn't appear to be severe but they'll likely be without him for the next month or so with a shoulder injury.

2. New England added more to Kyle Dugger's plate this preseason, asking him to play more in the box. When in coverage, he's struggled, allowing a big completion and a touchdown in back to back weeks.

3. The second unit offense as a whole was bad against Seattle, particularly the offensive line. King was never allowed to be comfortable and none of the receivers were creating space either. The second unit defense wasn't better either, allowing a long touchdown run with less than three minutes left in the game to allow Seattle to go up by ten and essentially seal the game.

Patriots finalize 53-man roster, release depth chart
The New England Patriots have trimmed their roster to 53 men and have released the 2022 depth chart for the team's season opener against the Chicago Bears.

Notable players listed as a starter include first-round pick Roger McCreary at cornerback. McCreary was an impressive performer in the preseason, finishing third on the team with twelve tackles and an interception. He also held his own in his matchup against D.K. Metcalf in the preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks.

McCreary's ascension was aided by an injury to defensive back Jalen Mills although at this time, it appears that the team views him more as a safety than a corner. Even prior to his injury, McCreary has replaced Mills in the starting lineup both in practices and in the games against Detroit and Seattle.

In addition to the 20 cuts, New England also placed wide receiver Jamal Custis and offensive linemen Justin Herron and Yustin Durant on IR. New England signed free agent running back Brandon Bolden, whose had two stints with the team most recently last season.

Jackson, Bears defense lead rout of Pats in Foxborough
Despite two turnovers by New England where the offense was driving deep into Chicago territory, New England had the ball on the Chicago 10-yard line with a chance to take the lead right before halftime and have the opportunity to extend that lead once it got the ball to open the second half.

New England would end up settling for a field goal while it was Chicago who went down the field and scored before half time and to open the second half, New England would fail to convert on fourth and goal from the Chicago two-yard line which then led to an 81-yard touchdown by Darnell Mooney and on the ensuing New England possession, Eddie Jackson would score on his second pick-six.

Just like that, Chicago put the game out of reach and would go on to spoil New England's home opener with a 44-24 defeat at the hands of the Bears.

The Patriots offense wouldn't reach the endzone until garbage time in the fourth quarter where Mac Jones threw two touchdown passes to rookie Charleston Rambo. Jones finished the game with two pick sixes and a lost fumble which overshadowed his 369 yards passing and 72 percent completion percentage.

Justin Fields threw an early pick six as well but overcame it, throwing three touchdown passes nd rushing for 80 yards in an impressive performance against a Bill Belichick led defense.

New England outgained Chicago in total offense, rushing yards, passing yards as well as first downs but it was ultimately the turnovers that was the story of the game, including two failed fourth down conversions from a New England offense that entered the game down one starting offensive lineman in left tackle Isaiah Wynn and lost center David Andrews halfway through as well.
