Lets take a look at the Tri-States Region. It's by far one of the tougher regions in West Virginia. You have multiple power houses and the rest are very good middle of the pack teams. Win this conference is almost as good as winning a state championship, might be easier.
Top Dogs
- Cabell Midland: Last years State Title Winners, and a power house in the state. Very hard nose team.
- Huntington: The other team in Cabell county, located in the same town as Marshall. Always toward the Top 5.
- Spring Valley: Another hard nose team that is year in and year out top 3 in the State.
Middle of the Pack
- Hurricane: Would win most conferences, but they have to play in this region. Usually throwing the ball around, exciting team.
- Poca: Maybe the best nickname "The Dots", AA by enrollment but they can play with the best.
- Belfry: A Kentucky team that plays in this region, they are arch rivals with Mingo Central across the river. You'll see them make the playoffs every other year.
- Mingo Central: A smaller school with great facilities. Probably should be in a AA conference but they can fight in this one.
Bottom
- Sissonville: Another school that would be more competitive in the Coalfields or Southern, but capable enough.
- Wayne: Former power house that fell on tough times, get the right coach, and they may be back.
- Winfield: Arch Rivals with Hurricane, but they found success in the past. Can surprise teams from time to time.
- RIpley: The Northern most team that tried to get into the OVAC Region, the failed bid put them into the Tri-States.
