MIAMI - With the new season only a month away, Miami Hurricanes were shocked with head coach Mario Cristobal departing for the Chicago Bears. Miami stole Cristobal from Oregon thinking they had a long term head coach to build the program but they now find themselves searching for a last minute replacement. Interim head coach, Josh Bishop, has been named to lead the team. Bishop was already in the Miami program and has a 2 year contract. If he starts the season on the right terms, he could very well land the head coach job permanently.

Bishop is a graduate of Iowa. The preference for Miami is to change to a spread attack led by junior QB Sam Oliver and star senior RB Jared Bass. "The circumstances are not ideal but we will make the most of it. We do not have time to put our heads down, the season is starting soon and our schedule is a challenge. The guys are motivated and ready to go." Bishop said before practice, Miami will open the season with a conference game against Boston College in week 2.
