Year 12 - West Virginia Mountaineers

Notes:
- Went with WVU. It was the right move, and a good move.
- Another year with a bunch of changes.

Coaching Tree Update:

*It is cool that I just noticed that I brought my OC with me from Bowling Green to WKU and now to WVU. Former DC at Bowling Green is now the HC at Nevada(They struggled last year).

Decent class to start off with, I only signed one guy and that was the 5 Star transfer WR from Michigan.

Like the schedule, had to pick up Pitt every year and then an old Big East foe, this year is Syracuse. Every game is winnable but I can lose all of them too. I like the team coming back though, really good QB and a couple of stud WR's.

How we are going to Build the Mountaineers:
- We have thick ties to this region. West Liberty, Bowling Green, WKU. Our recruiting ties are thick.
- Find our Bigs and Mids in Ohio/PA. Our Speed from the DMV, the Beach, and Florida.
- Build our depth with HS, our stars are transfers.

Very similar template to how we built West Liberty.

Team Builds:

Offensive Builds:
We will build it as a pass first team. Our outside receivers will be above 6'1, run well, and can win 1v1's. Our slots will be smaller, quicker, and able to sit in zones and win on RPOs. The RB's will be mixed, bigger but also speedier guys for certain packages. Our OL is big, and lean.

QB - Transfers for the first few years while we develop our guys.
RB - Mix bag.
OWR - Big, Fast, vertical type
IWR - Quick, smaller
OL - Tall, Long, Quick. Not heavy.

Defensive Builds:
We will play a 4-2-5. Have to have speed on the field. Need to find pass rushers. Sacks is everything.

DE - Quick, Long. 6'3+, must be able to pass rush.
IDL - Shorter, quicker. Able to hold at the point.
LB - Safeties in HS, fast, must be able to run.
Safeties - Corners in HS, Must be able to cover.
CB - Toughest to find, Man skills. 5'11+, quickness and speed.

Year 12 - #6 West Virginia Mountaineers - 6-0

Notes:
- This offense is stupid good. The defense is right there with them.
- Teams are scoring on our 2nd team late in games, but we have blown many teams out.
- Texas Tech game was weird, it was leaning toward a shootout. We changed our tempo to up-tempo and just said you'll have to outscore us. Once we went up 17, we lowered the tempo back down.
- 63 on Pitt was a good one, 42-3 at halftime. 56-3 going into the 4th.
- By the talent level we have on offense, we're the #5 overall talented offense in the country. It's no surprise these scores are happening.
- TCU, #9 BYU, and #14 Baylor are left on the schedule. It's time we get tested a little bit and see if we're legit or not.

Year 12 - #3 West Virginia Mountaineers - 13-1 - Big 12 Champions - 2nd Round Playoff Loss

Image

Image

Notes:
- Even though we wanted more in the playoffs, it was a historic year for sure.
- Texas was just a buzzsaw in the playoffs, they were on fire.
- Offensively we put up points in the 2nd half, but our run game flamed out. Which led to problems against Texas.
- We did have the Heisman, 1st Team AA QB, 1st Team AA WR, and 1st Team AA RB.
- It's a good start at WVU, we lose a lot but the portal should be really good to us. Really like our recruiting class, but none of them will be immediately ready.

Very impressive first season at WVU. Do you intend to stay there for the long term or is it another stepping stone to a blue blood?

Really thinking about sticking around for a decent while. Nothing really major came around this off-season, and believe we'll take a step back next year. Almost have to with the amount of talent we lose.

Year 13 - West Virginia Mountaineers - Offseason

Notes:
- Not as many head coaching changes as years past.
- We kept our staff together, which is good.

Coaching Tree Update:

- Many of these will be HC's soon.
- Bowen is the OC at Alabama, Hernandez is the DC at Washington, Conner is the DC at Notre Dame.

Recruiting Class:

Really like the class, the ultimate goal was to get developmental with High School and get stars out of the portal. I think we did that.
2 5 Star DL highlight the class, both transfers from the B10.
We snagged 3 QB's, but I only paid for one. That's a steal. #3 QB in the nation that's leaving Georgia.
The 5 Star RB transfer is just the cherry on top.

School Updates:

- We put money into our Facilities and Stadium. Hopefully that will help with recruiting.

Year 13 - #8 West Virginia Mountaineers - 6-0

Notes:
- We're good, not nearly as good as last season.
- The 5 Star QB got beat out in camp by two other transfers that have zero NIL money.
- Thank Goodness, we lost our starter 3 weeks in.
- I can see this team slipping up along the way. Just inconsistent in spots.
- We've had to battle with Cincy, Syracuse, and Kansas.
- Kansas game was concerning, gave up 6 sacks in the first half, gave up 8 for the game. Was down 23-13 at one point in the 3rd.

Impressive first season at WVU. Starting off 6-0 again means this team is hungry to return to the CFP

I've been playing this game through its beta for a while now. Super awesome to see a dynasty being done on here. Solid start at WVU.
