Cameron Jordan announces retirement
Saints DE Cameron Jordan announced his retirement from the NFL Monday. Jordan was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2011 Draft. Jordan recorded 122.5 sacks in his career, along with 724 total tackles. Jordan was selected to eight Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro in 2017. He was named to the Hall of Fame's all 2010s team.

Allen reflects on the final play
"We had been blitzing all day and getting a lot of pressure and five or six sacks so we knew we were going after him on that play." Allen explained. "Jalen Hurts moved around and kept the play alive. We got to him and just couldn't get him down. Jones was wide open. Just a great play by a great player. I still like our play call there."

Saints, Carr reportedly open to parting ways
After one season with the Saints organization QB Derek Carr as well as the front office are reportedly both open to parting ways. A source close to the team indicated that there are not necessarily any bad feelings between the two sides but they feel the team and Carr could be pursuing different goals in 2024. Carr is scheduled to make $35.7 million in 2024 which could prove to be difficult to move.

Peat agrees to new contract
LG Andrus Peat and the Saints have agreed to a one year deal that totals $4.7 million. The team considered letting Peat walk but with five other offensive linesmen leaving the team they felt Peat was a good value whether he remains a starter or provides depth.

Saints release veteran OTs James Hurst, Cameron Erving
Hurst started 15 games for the Saints in 2023 but began to show his age toward the end of the season and with Trevor Penning ready to step in at LT the team has decided to move on. Erving played in just one game before spending the rest of the season on the practice squad.

Garcia, Turner not expected to be resigned
Veteran guards Trai Turner and Max Garcia are scheduled to be free agents and neither are expected to be resigned. Mark Evans and Nick Saldiveri are younger options that have developed and should be serviceable reserves moving forward. The team is also expected to release OT Alex Leatherwood.

Ruiz declines offer, will test free agency
The Saints offensive line will have a new look in 2024 with Cesar Ruiz following several others out the door. Ruiz started 16 games at RG for the Saints. The team may consider franchise tagging Riuz but at $12.5 million they may look at cheaper options.

Saints decline fifth year option for DE Payton Turner
Turner played sparingly in 2023 and will need to prove his value in 2024 if he wants to earn a second contract in New Orleans.

Ty Summers signs one year deal
OLB Ty Summers and the team agreed to a one year deal worth $1.4M.

Team restructures Taysom Hill's contract
Taysom Hill and the team agreed to restructure his contract, moving $4.42 million from 2024 to 2025. Hic cap hit becomes $11.4 million this season, freeing up some much needed cap space.

DEREK CARR AND DENNIS ALLEN WILL PART WAYS AFTER ONE SEASON

After just one season in New Orleans Derek Carr is on the move again. For the second straight season the Jets made a splash by acquiring an established veteran QB by trading for Carr. In exchange the Saints get CB Michael Carter II. Carr threw for 3,890 yards with 26 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Despite having one of his best seasons the Saints felt it was best to move on and free up significant cap space. The Jets, who managed an 8-9 season and just narrowly missed the playoffs despite poor play at QB, are hoping Carr will give them the boost they hoped to get from Aaron Rodgers last season.

Carter played in 16 games for the Jets in 2023, recording 51 total tackles. He has two career interceptions. Carter provides depth behind Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo and could challenge Alontae Taylor for reps.

Saints sign Isaiah Wynn
After losing Cesar Ruiz to free agency and releasing James Hurst the Saints agreed to a two year deal worth up to $27 million with former Patriots and Dolphins offensive linesman Isaiah Wynn. Wynn started 40 games in four seasons with the Patriots before moving on to the Dolphins where he started seven games before a quadriceps injury forced to IR. Wynn has some position flexibility and will allow the Saints to assemble the best line they can.

Saints, Mayfield agree to deal
The Saints presumably have their starting QB for 2024 after signing former Browns, Panthers, Rams and Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield. After a tumultuous tenure in Cleveland Mayfield split time between the Panthers and Rams in 2022 before joining Tampa Bay for 2023. Mayfield threw for 3,483 yards with 20 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season.

The contract is for two years and worth up to $34 million.
