Todd Gurley is playing out of his mind. Too bad the quarterback situation has been suspect at best.

I think it will get better but it really is a shame for Gurley.

Injuries hamper Georgia offense ahead of easy match up

Image

After grinding out a win on the ground against Tennessee, Georgia faces injuries ahead of their match up against South Alabama. Quarterback Christian LeMay is still under concussion protocol after leaving the game against Tennessee in the third quarter. Coach Mark Richt has announced that LeMay is considered out for the game and senior Hutson Mason will start at quarterback for the Bulldogs.

LeMay has been pivotal in the rebound of Georgia's offense following a two game stretch where LeMay and former starter Hutson Mason threw for a combined total of eight interceptions. LeMay got his first start against Missouri and finished the game with a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and zero interceptions. LeMay proved his ability to manage the game and was subsequently given the start against Tennessee. However, the Tennessee defense would injure him on a sack in the third quarter. Neither LeMay nor his replacement Mason had a stellar game against Tennessee. LeMay is 29-50, with 302 yards, a touchdown and 2 interceptions on the year. Mason is 77-119 with 987 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions on the year.

Senior wide receiver Chris Conley also finds himself on the injury report after suffering a strained back against Tennessee. Conley is a part of a very talented group of upperclassmen receivers. He is currently listed as the fourth receiver on the depth chart and has been receiving time on the field as a slot receiver. Junior receiver Justin Scott-Wesley will step into Conley's role this week against South Alabama. Scott-Wesley is likely to see more action this week if Georgia is able to run up the score against South Alabama as they are expected to. Conley currently has 5 catches for 26 yards on the year. Scott-Wesley also has 5 catches on the year but for 43 yards.
