ADRIAN PHILLIP'S EARLY PICK GAVE THE CHARGERS SOME HOPE

RIVERS INJURED IN UGLY LOSS AT BUFFALO

Philip Rivers left the Chargers game against Buffalo in the midst of their first drive. He did not return to the game and there is some speculation that he could miss a substantial number of games due to the injury.

Geno Smith threw two interceptions in relief and the Bills defense loaded up the box to make running the ball nearly impossible.

“We can't do anything about injuries in the midst of a game.” Coach Lynn said after the loss. “We're going to get Philip evaluated and go from there.

LeSean McCoy scored once on the ground and again through the air, giving Buffalo more than enough cushion against the Rivers-less Chargers offense.

L.A. Drops to 1-1 on the season and impatiently awaits a diagnosis on their quarterback. They'll face a tough Rams team next week.

PHILIP RIVERS

RIVERS COULD MISS TWO MONTHS WITH A BROKEN FOOT

Philip Rivers only played 10 plays in a loss at Buffalo on Sunday. He has now been fully evaluated by the team medical staff and the news is not good. “Philip has a significant fracture on his left foot.” A team doctor explained. “We expect 5-7 weeks for recovery.”

The Chargers have made some moves on the roster, most notably bringing up quarterback Cardale Jones to the active roster to back up Geno Smith for the foreseeable future.

There have been some rumors about the team bringing in another quarterback but nothing has happened as of yet.

MELVIN GORDON MAKES A TACKLE ON ONE OF THE CHARGERS TURNOVERS

RAMS RUN ROUGHSHOD OVER RIVERS-LESS BOLTS

Philip Rivers please come back soon. Geno Smith and Cardale Jones combined for four interceptions and the Chargers offense only managed six points in a lopsided loss to the Rams. Melvin Gordon struggled against eight and nine men in the box and managed just 33 yards on 11 carries as the offense was forced to become one dimensional early on. As for the Rams Jared Goff threw four touchdown passes and had a quarterback rating over 125.

The Chargers drop to 1-2 and will host San Francisco next weekend.

Geno Smith played mistake free and threw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Melvin Gordon ran for 93 yards and the defense harassed Jimmy G all day while holding the 49ers to 21 rushing yards in a 23-13 win over San Francisco.

ALLEN'S 2ND QUARTER TD CATCH

CHARGERS FALL TO RAIDERS IN OT

The Chargers led 17-7 shortly after halftime but gave up 13 unanswered points to fall to Oakland in overtime. Geno Smith threw a first quarter pick six to Reggie Nelson and finished the game with three interceptions and one TD pass. Melvin Gordon ran for 84 yards and a score and Keenan Allen totaled 146 yards and a score on nine receptions in the loss. Bosa and Ingram combined for five sacks in the game but it wasn't enough to overcome a struggling offense. The Chargers are now 2-3 on the season.
