Coach Weiss on the close win:
"Those guys are talented obviously. They've had a long time to prepare for us and they played a great game. Expecting a blowout isn't really realistic.
On throwing the ball 35 times:
"We wanted to get into the playbook pretty deep as far as the passing game goes. I think we were a bit more unbalanced there then we had planned on but that's just how the game went. We certainly plan to be more balanced or even favor the run going forward."
On who impressed:
"Jake (Heaps) had a good game. He showed command of the playbook and of the offense. We asked a lot of him and he delivered.
On next week:
"Rice is a good team and we're on the road. We're going to work hard to be prepared for them and we're looking at a lot of tape for us and them. We'll go in with the best plan possible and try to be as prepared as possible."
Notes
JaCorey Shepherd will take over kick and punt return duties going forward. He will also see more time at the outside corner positions. He played exclusively in the slot last week.
Isaiah Johnson has been moved up the depth chart at a number of defensive positions.
Victor Simmons played very sparingly last week but is expected to see an increased role going forward.

I felt good about getting a win there based on team ratings, if I'm honest Kansas is probably overrated.
Didn't expect one this convincing though. Time of possession was key, they ran a no huddle like we'll see a lot in Big 12 play so limiting the number of snaps our defense is on the field was key.
