SENIOR SAFETY TREVENCE PATT RECOVERS A FUMBLE ON SOUTH ALABAMA'S FIRST OFFENSIVE PLAY
South Alabama turned the ball over on their first offensive play. They later recovered and tied the score at 7-7 in the first quarter but were then outscored 21-0 by the Ragin' Cajuns as they ran away with a 28-7 win.

South Alabama was the only one loss team in the Sunbelt conference so ULL's win puts them in prime position to claim the conference championship once again.

South Alabama managed just 142 yards of total offense in the loss, 133 of that came through the air.

Lafayette picked up 345 yards in the game with 160 of it coming on the ground.

Alonzo Harris ran for 147 yards and three scores on 32 carries and kept the South Alabama offense on the sidelines.

Terrance Broadway threw for 185 yards and a score on 13 of 23 passing.

South Alabama junior QB Trey Fetner completed 20 of 28 pass attempts but for just 133 yards as a large number of his passes were screens that the ULL defense had figured out and shut down.

ULL is now 8-1 on the season and will host Texas State and Arkansas State before finishing up the regular season at rival ULM.

Coach Davis' Take
Aside from the one drive they didn't give us a whole lot of trouble. We sniffed out a lot of their screen passes and were able to largely shut those down. Overall another great game for us. On to the next one.

SENIOR SAFETY TREVENCE PATT BROKE THE NCAA RECORD FOR THE LONGEST INTERCEPTION RETURN
Texas State racked up more turnovers than they did points. Tough to win or even compete like that as the scoreboard shows.

After turning the ball over on the third offensive play of the game ULL found themselves trailing 3-0 a few minutes later when Texas State scored on a 22 yard field goal by senior Will Johnson.

The Cajuns would go on to score 49 unanswered points as they systematically picked apart the Bobcats on both sides of the ball.

The first play of Texas State's next possession resulted in an interception by junior safety T.J. Worthy. Five plays later Terrence Broadway connected with senior wideout James Butler for a touchdown and a 7-3 lead.

Texas State's next play was even more disastrous as corner Sean Thomas picked off Fred Nixon and went 28 yards all the way to the house to put ULL up 14-3.

In the second quarter Alonzo Harris scored to make it 21-3 following a second pick by S. THOMAS.

In all Nixon was picked off five times in the game, including two pick sixes.

Harris scored twice in the third quarter, from 62 and 21 yards out.

With just over two minutes to play Texas State had driven into the red zone when Patt would make his record setting play.

Nixon avoided a sack and threw off balance into the endzone where Patt made a leaping interception roughly at the N in Louisiana. Patt landed just inside the endzone and hesitated for a brief moment as though he may take a knee. Seeing nothing but green in front of him he took off down the sideline. He narrowly avoided a diving tackler at the 40 yard line but from there it was smooth sailing as no Texas State players were within 15 yards when he crossed the goal line.

Reserve corner Jamal Rainey picked off Texas State backup QB Duke Delanceloti a few plays later for good measure.

When it was all said and done ULL had come away with a 49-3 victory.

Junior defensive end Dominique Tovell also set a school record for sacks in a season when he recorded his 11th.

Coach Davis' Take
Damn! Did you see that game!? Damn! DAMN! What an effort! We decided we weren't going to bring huge pressure this week and we sat back in coverage a lot but the front four still got a good amount of pressure and the secondary was all over the place out there! Incredible at all three levels. I'll never forget this game as long as I live!

DARIUS BARKSDALE AND SEAN THOMAS BATTLE FOR A PICK, THOMAS RECORDED TWO ON THE DAY
Once again the ULL defense put on a clinic and led the Ragin' Cajuns to a win.

An interception by Senior cornerback Sean Thomas on Arkansas State's third offensive play set the tone early and the RedWolves never really got anything going.

The opportunistic Cajuns defense picked off three passes and recorded four sacks in the game while giving up 218 total yards. Arkansas State made just one visit into the redzone.

The ULL offense had an efficient game, protecting the ball while Alonzo Harris ran 32 times for 108 yards and two scores. Terrence Broadway threw for 162 yards with no turnovers.

Louisiana improves their overall record to 10-1 on the season and has now clinched another conference title. They will face ULM in the regular season finale before likely heading to another New Orleans Bowl.

Coach Davis' Take
We just keep getting it done out there don't we? This was a game where we basically sat in base 4-2-5 man 90% of the game and let the talent we have go to work. All three levels got it done and when we went to sub packages those guys put in work too. I can't believe how great this group has come together and how much they've grown. I'm a bit upset that we only have a couple games left.
