Coach Davis' Take
Green is a somewhat raw JUCO transfer. He has good speed and size for the position but needs to work on coverage fundamentals.

Reggie McFadden is a player I personally recruited and signed so I'm very excited about that. He plays corner currently but for us he looks like more of a safety maybe. He has good speed and tackling ability and should be able to be a solid player in the Sun Belt.

CB JEVANTE WATSON PICKED OFF ANOTHER PASS, HIS FIFTH THIS SEASON
Louisiana-Lafayette began their defense of the Sun Belt conference title with a convincing win over New Mexico State, shutting them out in a 30-0 win.

New Mexico State was largely shut down, gaining just 270 total yards in the game and turning the ball over three times in the first half. They were also 0-4 in the redzone.

Louisiana rolled up 349 total yards, 164 of them on the ground.

Terrance Broadway threw for 185 yards and a score while Alonzo Harris lead the way on the ground with 126 yard and three scores.

New Mexico State had a few big plays, including a 38 yard run and a 70 yard pass, but could never make a play when they needed one.

The Ragin' Cajuns jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on a pair of first quarter takeaways en route to a 20-0 lead. It was never in question after that.

Louisiana will take host Idaho next week.

Coach Davis' Take
Overall we played a great game defensively. I am a little concerned about the big plays. They had that 70 yard pass and an almost 40 yard run but those ended up both being drives that we stopped. We'll work on stopping those plays and cleaning up our tackling a bit this week. Hey, another shutout. Can't beat that!

SENIOR DL CHRISTIAN RINGO SET THE TONE WITH AN EARLY SACK
ULL picked up another convincing win when they topped Idaho 31-10 at home.

Idaho was held to 247 total yards and 12 first downs in the loss, QB Chad Chalich was intercepted three times and sacked four times. The Cajuns racked up 349 yards on offense and did not turn the ball over.

The win means ULL is 2-0 in Sun Belt play and they'll continue to be the favorite to win the conference again.

Senior QB Terrance Broadway played a great game, completing 20 of 24 passes for 250 yards and a pair of scores. Alonzo Harris added a pair of rushing touchdowns and receivers Jamal Robinson and Nick Byrne caught touchdown passes.

Coach Davis' Take
Another great game from the defense. Tons of pressure on the QB. Forced three turnovers again, can't beat that! Was once again upset by a few big plays that allowed them to make it a little bit of a game at one point. Back to the drawing board there I guess. Overall impressed and pleased by the performance.

Coach Davis' Take
Wilson is the second player I've landed in my recruiting career. Very excited to get him on board especially since he was looking at Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Ohio State. He's a great tackler with good speed and pop. He needs work in coverage as he played more like a deep linebacker in high school. We could see him as a strong safety or maybe at linebacker for us.

Bailey is not a guy I personally recruited but I am very glad we landed him. He's got great speed and strength for any linebacker position and could see the field at any of those positions or as a defensive end. He's a versatile player that would give us a lot of personnel flexibility.
