NOTRE DAME'S PLETHORA OF TALENT PREVAILED IN A CLOSE WIN OVER ULL
"Huge stage. Against an immensely talented team. Really very proud of everyone from the players to the coaching staff. Guys behind the scenes. Everyone. What a season for us huh?" ULL head coach said with emotion following a close 33-28 loss to Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson had a solid game, completing 22 of 33 passes for 231 yards and two scores and also adding one on the ground. The talented passer made a number of key throws on third down and led his team to a score late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

ULL's Terrance Broadway threw a pair of first quarter picks but settled down to finish with 322 yards and a trio of scores on 25 of 37 passing. The ULL running game was largely ineffective with Alonzo Harris being held to just 36 yards on 11 carries. He did score a touchdown.

After Notre Dame jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead the Cajuns came back to make it 17-14 Irish at the half.

Broadway connected with senior wide receiver Devin Figaro for a 10 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that gave Louisiana-Lafayette the lead at 21-17.

Notre Dame got a field goal from Kyle Brindza and a Golson to Daniel Smith touchdown to retake the lead in before the fourth then essentially put the game away with 1:20 left in the game when Amir Carlisle scored on a two yard run.

Broadway threw a 16 yard pass to Jamal Robinson with three seconds left in the game but the Irish recovered the onside kick to secure their victory.

LSU Wastes No Time Snagging Strong
Former Louisville Coach Signs Five Year Deal
By Karl Belcher | Jan 15, 2015, 2:15pm EST

Two days after firing Les Miles and most of his staff LSU made an aggressive offer to Louisville's Charlie Strong and signed him to a five year deal worth up to $35 million with incentives. Louisville finished 9-4 last year and 10-3 in 2013. Strong compiled a 44-21 record in his time there.

With the LSU job locked up it is expected that a number of moves will take place in the next few weeks and that things could move quickly.

The Louisville opening is viewed as one of the better jobs available now.
