Keric Donovon CB #110 *** JUCO 6'1” 188 Fort Hood, Texas Blinn CC
-Keric played a great season for Blinn after receiving lukewarm interest from FBS schools after finishing his career at Killeen High school. Donovon played WR and DB in high school and settled into a permanent CB position at Blinn. He leads the team in interceptions. Keric has great speed and closing ability. He is strong in both man and zone coverage, he is good in press coverage and will give lesser receivers a run for their money. He is an above average tackler for the position. The coaching staff feels Keric con contribute immediately. Donovon chose Louisiana over Texas and Texas A&M. "Just a fun, unique system to play in. Coaching staff is legit." Donovon replied when asked about his choice on Twitter.

Cajuns Two Headed Monster at QB Working Quite Well

“If you've got two quarterbacks you don't have one quarterback.” someone once said. Whoever that was obviously didn't have Louisiana's Jordan McAlary and D'Eriq Robinette.

ROBINETTE SCORES A TOUCHDOWN AGAINST HOUSTON

The two couldn't be much different both as people and players. Robinette, who is 6'5” tall and nearly 220 pounds, was primarily recruited by most schools as a receiver due to his athleticism and a perceived weakness as a passer. He worked almost exclusively with the receivers during his redshirt season but was moved to quarterback prior to this season with the teams top two from 2016 moved on.

McAlary has been a clear cut QB since junior high. If he was a few inches taller he'd likely be calling the SEC home. Not as athletic as Robinette but still able to move outside the pocket when needed McAlary prefers to do damage with his arm.

McAlary is the primary QB and Robinette has taken snaps at a number of positions over the course of the season but the duo plays off each other very well and there's been no ill will between the two.

MCALARY DELIVERS A PASS AGAINST RUTGERS EARLIER THIS SEASON

“It's a lot of fun for me.” Robinette says. “I get to do all kinds of stuff and I've learned so much about all of it. It's cool.”

McAlary has thrown for 3,349 yards so far this season. He leads the nation in that category and has already set the school season records. McAlary has also thrown for 24 touchdowns against 18 interceptions.

Robinette leads the team with 345 rushing yards on 49 carries and also leads the team with eight rushing touchdowns. He has caught 14 passes for 144 yards and four touchdowns. As a passer Robinette has thrown for 130 yards and two touchdowns with a pair of interceptions on 14 of 21 passing.

“I think he's scored like two or three running.” Robinette says of McAlary. “He makes sure to find me on the sideline after and he's like 'yo you see that man?'”

“It's a great dynamic.” Louisiana head coach Porter Davis says. “Those guys build off each other on and off the field and they're always together. As a coach it's really an ideal situation.”

“I still can't get him to give me the ball on an option in practice.” Robinette says with a chuckle.

Don't like the lack of hunger from D'Eriq. He should be gunning for McAlary's spot. 18 INTs to 24 TDs isn't a great ratio.

KELVIN GREENWOOD RETURNS A KICK 94 YARDS FOR A TOUCHDOWN

Louisiana squeaked past Tulsa in the latest of a series of up and down games for the Cajuns. Last week, following a three point win over SMU, Louisiana blew out Houston on the road. This week it was another three point win at home. Tulsa took advantage of turnovers and failed fourth down conversions but failed to recover an onside kick late and Louisiana barely held on for the win.

“A few calls we made that were risky and didn’t go our way but we don’t second guess ‘em.” Porter Davis said after the game. Louisiana was 0 for 3 on fourth down conversions.

Tulsa put together a solid opening drive, getting well into Louisiana’s red zone but Matt Palmer picked off Ben Oberste near the goalline to stop the threat.

Louisiana was stopped on fourth down and a few minutes later Tulsa scored first on a Nick Lawson one yard run late in the first quarter.


LAWSON SCORES A RUSHING TD FOR TULSA

Donatello Franz III tied the game up midway through the second quarter with a 12 yard rushing touchdown.


FRANZ III CROSSES THE GOALLINE FOR A TOUCHDOWN

Tulsa retook the lead a few minutes later when Oberste connected with junior receiver Cory Murphy for a three yard score.


MURPHY SECURES A TD PASS FROM OBERSTE

Kelvin Greenwood returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, tying the game back up at 14-14 with two and a half minutes left before halftime.

“We knew he would break one eventually. He’s been pretty close a few times so it was just a matter of time.” Coach Davis said of the score.

On Tulsa’s first offensive play after the score defensive end Courtney Miggins broke through the line and recorded his school record 21st sack of the season.

Early in the second half McAlary was picked off in the endzone by Tulsa senior safety Mike Muse ending a promising first possession.

Early in the fourth quarter D’Eriq Robinette connected with tight end Nick Byrne for a three yard touchdown pass to put Louisiana up 24-14.

After a Tulsa punt another long Louisiana drive ended with Muse picking off McAlary in the endzone.


MUSE PICKS OFF MCALARY IN THE ENDZONE AGAIN

Tulsa punted. Louisiana got stopped on a fake punt. Oberste cut the lead to 24-21 with a 27 yard touchdown pass to Keevan Lucas with 1:35 left to play.

Mikey Porter Sr recovered the onside kick and the Cajuns were able to run out the clock.

“It was ugly. You all saw that. But, ultimately it’s a win and we’ll take it. Film is going to be rough.” Davis explained after the win.

Louisiana improves to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play. They will wrap up the regular season next week at Tulane.
