The teams exchanged scores in the third quarter with Arkansas taking a 21-17 lead on a two yard TD run by Long and A&M answering with a Jackson pass to TE Campbell from a yard out.
Jaquez Powell put Arkansas back on top with a one yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. Long scored his second, a six yard effort, a few minutes later after the defense forced A&M to punt. With 2:09 left to play Arkansas clung to a 35-24 lead.
Jackson was able to move A&M downfield quickly, connecting with Perry for a two yard touchdown with :47 seconds left to play. The Aggies successful two point conversion made it 35-32 Arkansas. The hands team successfully recovered the onside kick for Arkansas and the Razorbacks were able to run out the clock to come away with the upset win.
“Certainly not a pretty win.” Porter Davis said after the game. “We made plays when we needed them. Got the special teams score and got after their quarterbacks a bit. Ran the ball. We’ll take it.”
Arkansas will face South Carolina on October 6th after a bye week.
