Jets Drop Preseason Game One to Giants 23-20
DARRYL ROBERS PICS OFF ELI MANNING'S FIRST PASS ATTEMPT
The Jets opened their 2019 campaign with a 23-20 loss to the Giants in their first preseason game.
Darryl Roberts picked off Eli Manning on the first snap of the game but the Jets were unable to get any points off the turnover.
Sam Darnold played three possessions. The first ended with a punt, the second a pick six and the third a lost fumble. Darnold finished one of five for 11 yards.
The Jets trailed 13-0 by the time they got on the board. Their first points came on a 32 yard Trevor Siemian to Ty Montgomery touchdown pass.
Rod Smith added a short touchdown run for the Giants before halftime, giving them a 20-7 lead at the break.
Taylor Bertolet kicked a 19 yard field goal for the Jets in the third quarter then added a 43 yarder in the fourth.
Davis Webb connected with Eric Tomlinson with about five minutes to play to tie the game. Rosas put the Giants back on top with a field goal at the two minute mark. Webb was able to drive the Jets into the redzone before throwing a pick that ended the game, his second.
