Miami vs. Boston College Preview
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

A week from now, Manny Diaz and Miami (4-0, 1-0 ACC, No. 8 AP) will take a trip up I-75 and play in arguably the biggest game of Diaz's tenure when they visit undefeated Florida State in a game that could have both conference and national implications.

Diaz knows, however, that Miami cannot afford to overlook the pesky Eagles that are coming into town this week.

Miami will look to avoid the upset at the hands of their former Big East rival when they face off against Boston College (3-1, 1-0) whose only loss of the season came in a three-point loss to USC. Boston College then beat Arkansas State and dominated Pittsburgh thanks to their balanced offense and a stingy defense that is ranked ninth in the nation against the pass.

After missing last season with an injury, quarterback Anthony Brown is back and having a career year, completing 71 percent of his passes and boasts a 6:1 touchdown to interception ration.

Even with A.J. Dillon sidelined with an injury, Miami will have their work cut out for them with six-foot-one, 242 pound David Bailey. Bailey is averaging 5.3 yards per carry this season and 103.3 yards per game, almost nearing Dillon's numbers from last season.

Miami holds off late Boston College rally behind turnovers, Lingard
Manny Diaz challenged his team this week to not take Boston College lightly en-lieu of their highly anticipated rivalry game against Florida State next week.

Miami did just that, jumping out to a 35-10 lead in the third quarter. But when Boston College rallied to make it 35-32 with 4:54 left in the game, Diaz found himself challenging his team once more and they rose to the occasion.

Lorenzo Lingard ripped off a 43-yard run and when the defense intercepted Anthony Brown for the third time in the red-zone, he ripped off another long run -- this time for 80 yards -- as Miami kept on their winning ways on Saturday with the 49-32 victory.

Miami's late surge was due to their running game while Jarren Williams helped set the tone with four first half touchdowns. He finished the game 23 of 27 for 267 yards and five touchdowns.

Cam'Ron Harris also rushed for 109 yards while Brevin Jordan found the endzone twice along with freshman running back Brett Sharp.

Williams, Lingard and Hightower indefinitely suspended ahead of clash with FSU
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami Hurricanes football head coach Manny Diaz announced on Tuesday during the team's media session that starting quarterback Jarren Williams, running back Lorenzo Lingard and receiver Brian Hightower have all been suspended indefinitely.

All three players are third-year players.

The news came as a surprise to many as undefeated Miami is set to play No. 3 Florida State this Saturday with College Gameday in attendance. Diaz refused to comment on the circumstances that led to their suspension.

According to reports from Manny Navarro of The Athletic, the suspensions are not related to a singular incident involving all three players. It had been speculate that Williams had failed multiple drug tests over the years but Miami's policy protects student athletes against drug tests being public.

The nature of the suspension for Lingard and Hightower are unclear as Lingard had one of his best days a Hurricane when he ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns last week against Boston College. Lingard leads the team with 383 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

Hightower had failed to catch a pass in the last two games against Michigan State and Boston College and his role appeared to be decreasing. It was reported by Navarro that Hightower did not show up to a team meeting on Sunday and was absent on Monday for practice.

Miami now has just two days before they travel to Tallahassee to play one of the biggest -- if not the biggest -- games under Manny Diaz. Williams was averaging 275.8 yards per game this season with 12 touchdowns. It remains to be seen if Miami will turn to redshirt junior N'kosi Perry or if true freshman quarterback Tyrone Williams, a former five-star, will get the start.

Neither has played a snap this season.
