Virginia Tech pulls together comeback victory, intercepts Jarren Williams to seal the game
Jarren Williams started the game 12-of-12 for 112 yards and two touchdowns. The freshman quarterback seemed poise to lead Miami to it's second division championship in three years.

Miami had the ball in the redzone, ready to score another touchdown. Williams threw the pass to Mike Harley who dropped the ball and it fell into the hands of a Virginia Tech defender. It was all downhill after that.

The Hokies intercepted Williams three more times, including on the final drive -- and ended the game with twelve unanswered points to hand Miami their first lost since the opener in Virginia Tech's 32-31 win on Saturday.

Ryan Willis threw a twelve-yard touchdown pass with 5:35 to go in the game to make it a one-score game and when he got the ball back, they were able to drive down the file and score once more, this time on a 12-yard run by Holston.

Willis threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns but did throw an interception in the second half. Heisman hopeful Deshawn McClease rushed for 92 yards and caught three passes for 55 yards in an epic matchup against Miami's trio of senior linebackers.

Miami got the ball all the way to their own 47-yard line but then Williams was intercepted as he tried to go deep to Jeff Thomas. Williams threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns but it was ultimately the four interceptions that did him in.

Virginia Tech is now in the pole position for the Coastal with the ability to win the division with a win next week against Virginia. Miami now needs to beat Pittsburgh next week and have Virginia beat Virginia Tech.

Virginia can win the Coastal with a Miami loss against Pittsburgh and a win against Virginia Tech.

Pittsburgh vs. Miami Preview
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

The team that spent all season feeling overlooked and underrated spent this week focusing on themselves and what they have to do to give Miami (9-1, 6-1) it's second ten win season in the last decade and end the first season of the Manny Diaz era with some victories.

"We don't want our season to end," said tight end Brevin Jordan, "We want to play in Charlotte and play in a big bowl against some good teams so we need to beat Pittsburgh and send our seniors out right."

It will be senior day for Miami as they take on Pittsburgh (6-5, 4-3) on the last home game for the regular season. An incredibly young team, the Canes only have two seniors on their offense in receiver K.J. Osborn and backup guard Tommy Kennedy, two transfers. But it's their defense, led by senior linebackers Shaq Quarterman, Michael Pinckney, and Zach McCloud, that will be doing the honoring.

Defensive ends Scott Patchan and Trevon Hill, defensive tackles Pat Bethel and Chigozie Nnoruka along with defensive backs Robert Knowles and Romeo Finley will all be playing in their last game at home.

The Hurricanes hope to be back in Hard Rock, however, presumably playing in the Orange Bowl. In order to do that, they need to win the ACC which means that Hurricanes fans will not only be trying to knock off a mediocre Pittsburgh team but also be rooting for Virginia to take down the Hokies.

Miami wins the Coastal with a win at Pittsburgh and a Virginia win. None of that matters if the Hurricanes lose.

Pitt's offense is limited, with both of their passing and rushing attacks falling outside of the top 40 in the country. Quarterback Kenny Pickett is completing less than 50 percent of his passes while running back A.J. Davis is a 1,000-yard rusher, currently standing at 1,168 yards on the season. Davis, however, lacks the top end speed that the Miami defense will showcase on Saturday and could struggle to put together effective runs of positive gains.

Offensively, Miami will try to limit the mistakes of Jarren Williams. Williams leads the country with 18 interceptions but so does his 75 percent completion percentage. He's accurate as they come but when it comes to decision making, the quarterback has been prone to try to make too much instead of taking the check down.

Five-star recruits HB Randy Battle, ATH Donald Washington and ATH Eddie Clark are all expected to be at the game for Miami with Miami confider that Clark and Battle arelikely to commit sometime this weekend.

Jarren's the guy. The playbook is just so limited and so tight passing windows wise. lowkey hoping Enos takes a head coaching job so i can use another playbook lmao central michigan's is ass.

Williams, Thomas put together record breaking performances
Everyone around Jeff Thomas and the Miami program expect the receiver -- inconsistency aside -- to forego his senior season and enter the draft.

If today was his last game as a Hurricane in front of his home crowd, he left on a great note.

Thomas caught eight passes for 235 yards, scoring on four of them in the team's 56-24 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The team learned at half-time that Virginia Tech was likely on their way to a win over Virginia and that they were essentially no longer in the running to play in the ACC Championship game. That didn't stop Thomas from breaking school records for both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a single game.

Jarren Williams broke several records as well in what was an offensive showcase. He threw for a school record seven touchdown passes and freshman record for most passing yards -- and touchdowns -- as well as broke the school record for most passing touchdowns by a freshman in a season. Williams finished the game with 425 yards and just two incompletions.

Deejay Dallas, another junior likely draft-bound, rushed for a career high 180 yards and a 75-yard touchdown.

‣ Sharp, Everett and Long commit to Miami as recruiting dead period approaches

The week started off with 4-star OLB Scott Wade announcing his top two and Miami was not listed. The Miami kid instead had Kansas -- yes, that Kansas -- and Oklahoma State in his top two. Not a great start for Miami as the recruiting dead period begins.

And then, five-star running back Brett Sharp made a surprise announcement, posting on his social media feeds that he was committing with Miami with the intent to sign in the early period. While Sharp has long been considered a Miami lock, many expected the Ohio product with 4.3 speed to finish out his senior season at White Oak before enrolling.

The following day, four-star defensive end Marcus Everett announced his commitment with three-star local receiver Kasey Long also joining him to bring Miami's class to sixteen.

With eleven seniors on the roster and a few potential early departures to the draft -- Trajan Bandy, Deejay Dallas, Jeff Thomas -- Miami is most likely capped out or close to their scholarship limit. It will be interesting to see what Miami does with receivers like Curtis Gibson or Cole Bryant who were once considered takes but Miami might simply run out of roster space.

Miami will certainly still take #1 OLB Kevin Jones who is leaning Miami over Alabama and Florida. Five-star running back Randy Battle is still a take as well even with two other running backs already in the class. He's too talented to say no to if he wants to come. And then there's Eddie Clark and Donald Washington, the two five-star athletes. Washington figures to be a defensive back at the next level despite playing quarterback in high school while Clark, another high school quarterback, might make the switch to receiver.

Neither of those positions are huge needs but once again, can Miami say no to five-stars at this point?
