Miami takes Central Michigan to school 56-10
Whatever head coach Manny Diaz and offensive coordinator Dan Enos are telling the players during half-time, they better consider moving that speech up to before the game as ACC play now begins.

Miami bounced back from a sluggish first-half to put up 56 points in the 56-10 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. The Hurricanes were shutout in the first quarter and most of the first half, scoring two touchdowns in the last four minutes of the game.

Miami would go on to score 42 points in the second half. They had a similar outburst in the second half against FIU after being once again shutout in the first quarter.

It was a homecoming of sorts for Enos, who took the head coaching job at Central Michigan in 2010. Enos's teams struggled in his first two seasons at CMU. Enos produced back-to-back 3-9 seasons in 2010 and 2011. After three more seasons, he resigned to take the offensive coordinator position at Arkansas

Enos' offense was on full display with Jarren Williams throwing for three touchdowns and Deejay Dallas punching one in as well. They got plenty of help from the special teams, most notably Jeff Thomas. Thomas returned nine punts for 334 yards, averaging over 37 yards per punt returns, and returned two of them for touchdowns.

Enos' secret weapon for the night was Tate Martell. The quarterback-turned-receiver rushed for two touchdowns from the goal-line as a wildcat quarterback.

Scoring Summary

0:14 (CMU) L. Nichols, 7 Yd pass from T. Lazzaro

‣ Jonathan Garvin sidelined with torn pectoral

Miami junior defensive end Jonathan Garvin is expected to miss the next two to four weeks with a torn pectoral muscle. Garvin suffered the injury in the second quarter against Central Michigan.

Garvin, Miami's top pass rusher heading into the season, has nine tackles on the year along with three sacks.

Gregory Rousseau, who replaced Garvin during the game, had a pass deflection against Central Michigan. Rousseau will likely rotate along with Trevon Hill, the Virginia Tech transfer. Hill has four tackles and three sacks on the year.

Miami is hopeful they'll have Garvin back for the Boston College game in four weeks.

‣ Miami closing in on ESPN150 top quarterback, Tyrone Williams

In a recent interview, five-star quarterback Tyrone Williams out of Centreville, Virginia said that Miami currently sits atop his top five.

The 2020 quarterback, who is the number one ranked quarterback in the country, also had Clemson, Texas A&M, Baylor and UCLA on his list. Williams, listed at six-foot-one and 189 pounds, also said he does not intent to enroll early. This likely means that Miami will have to secure his commitment and letter of intent until after the calendar year.

Miami currently has a soft verbal commitment from three-star quarterback David Ferguson out of Roselle, IL while two Florida quarterbacks in Jonathan Bennett and Jarrod Holt also have Miami in their top three.

Another five-star Miami is closing in on is running back Brett Sharp out of White Oak, Ohio. Miami is in his top five as well along with Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia. The number-two ranked running back in the country turned heads at Miami's Paradise Camp in the spring, running a laser 4.30-forty.

He's yet to schedule an official visit to any school.
