2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: Is Williams' the next six-foot quarterback to go number one in the draft?
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Jonathan Smith was the perfect fit for Miami and an even greater fit for quarterback Tyrone Williams. As a freshman, Williams struggled in Tavita Pritchard's pro style offense but in Smith's spread offense, Williams was able to throw for a Miami record 4,048 yards.

In theory, Neal Brown's air raid offense should also help Williams' draft stock who attempted 28 passes per game last season.

A look at Miami’s quarterback situation:

Projected depth chart
#11 Tyrone Williams, Jr. | 6'1", 190lbs | Centreville, VA | 97 ovr, 78 spd, 97 thp, 90 tha
#1 Curtis Corbett, Fr. | 6'3", 208lbs | Miami, FL | 81 ovr, 88 spd, 89 thp, 81 tha
#17 Anthony Morris, Fr. | 6'3", 192lbs | Miami, FL | 76 ovr, 67 spd, 89 thp, 82 tha
#13 John Harrison, RS Jr. | 6'5", 239lbs | Brownsville, FL | 68 ovr, 82 spd, 72 thp, 74 tha

Expected starter: No question there, Williams.

Major storyline: Corbett came into Coral Gables with a lot of fan fare but as a passer, Anthony Morris is just as a good. Corbett's versatility will allow him to make an impact at other positions so he might be the backup on paper in order to preserve Anthony Morris' red shirt but who will be the true QB2 and with Williams likely headed to the NFL next spring, who start at QB in 2023?

2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: Will Air Raid offense put a damper on the production of Sharp, Battle?
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami had one of the best one-two punches in Brett Sharp, who averaged 7.1 yards per carry and caught 45 passes, and Randy Battle who ended the season with 23 rushing touchdowns and is already Miami's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns.

Joining Sharp, Battle and the often forgotten other member of the 'Big 3' Kirk Banks are two true freshman in R.J. Olson -- a five star -- and four-star running back John Andrews III.

A look at Miami’s running back situation:

Projected depth chart
#2 Brett Sharp, Jr. | 5'9", 190lbs | White Oak, OH | 92 ovr, 98 spd, 99 acc, 75 car
#21 Randy Battle, Jr. | 6'0", 237lbs | Central Point, OR | 90 ovr, 90 spd, 92 acc, 81 car
#25 Kirk Banks, Jr. | 5'11", 209lbs | Castro Valley, CA | 84 ovr, 93 spd, 96 acc, 69 car
#32 R.J. Olson, Fr. | 5'10", 185lbs | Miami, FL | 77 ovr, 84 spd, 82 acc, 89 car
#27 John Andrews, Fr. | 6'0", 196lbs | New Iberia, LA | 77 ovr, 85 spd, 89 acc, 70 car

Expected starter: Battle ended last season with more carries than Sharp but in this offense, Sharp seems to be the more natural fit.

Major storyline: Sharp and Battle each had over 100 carries with Banks coming in third with 32 carries last season. Is there enough carries in this offense to keep up the production of Sharp and Battle, who at times were Miami's best players offensively.

2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: The future is bright at receiver
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

A year ago, Miami returned just one receiver in Dee Wiggins who ended up finishing the season fourth on the depth chart. Miam now returns four receivers and the room got even more talented with the addition of a couple of high caliber recruits.

Travis Johnson's athleticism has jumped off the page with the late addition taking some first-team snaps in a rotation that features potentially college football's best slot receiver in Eddie Clark and the fastest man in college football in Sean Johnson.

With all that being said, a look at Miami’s wide receiver situation:

Projected depth chart
#4 Eddie Clark, Jr. | 6'0", 224lbs | Lusk, WY | 93 ovr, 87 spd, 93 acc, 98 cth
#88 Sean Johnson, So. | 6'1", 199lbs | Knik-Fairview, AK | 86 ovr, 99 spd, 96 acc, 81 cth
#5 Kenneth Kent, So. | 6'3", 182lbs | Miami, FL | 82 ovr, 91 spd, 93 acc, 83 cth
#80 Travis Johnson, Fr. | 6'2", 198lbs | Calumet City, IL | 77 ovr, 92 spd, 91 acc, 71 cth
#85 Deshawn Swain, Fr. | 6'0", 198lbs | Miami, FL | 78 ovr, 85 spd, 84 acc, 75 cth
#83 Dusty Simpson, Fr. | 5'11", 183lbs | Robinson, TX | 75 ovr, 84 spd, 81 acc, 74 cth
#87 Justin Sarria, So. | 6'4", 211lbs | Evergreen, AL | 73 ovr, 91 spd, 81 acc, 80 cth

Expected starters: The top three returns in Clark, Johnson and Kent. Kent quietly put together just as productive of a season at receiver as Sean Johnson did.

Major storyline: Clark splashed onto the scene as Miami's best receiver last year after catching just eleven passes the year before. Does he take that next step into an elite receiver?

2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: Who replaces Mallory at tight end?
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami had arguably two of college football's best tight ends in Brevin Jordan who was then replaced by Will Mallory who put together one of the best senior campaigns in Miami history. If replacing Jordan was supposed to be hard, replacing Mallory seems almost impossible.

A look at Miami’s tight end situation:

Projected depth chart
#81 Larry Hodges, Sr. | 6'2", 236lbs | Tampa, FL | 87 ovr, 77 spd, 94 acc, 79 cth
#82 Antonio Wilson, RS-So. | 6'2", 253lbs | Ft. Lauderdale, FL | 80 ovr, 79 spd, 81 acc, 72 cth
#89 Tommy Smith, So. | 6'5", 255lbs | Olympia Heights, FL | 70 ovr, 80 spd, 79 acc, 63 cth

Expected starter: In a different offense, Wilson's ability as a blocker and a bigger body might make this a competition but its Hodges all the way.

Major storyline: Hodges came in a class after Jordan and Mallory and had to sit behind two great tight ends. He now gets his senior season and his senior season only to make an impact as he has zero career catches heading into the year.

2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: After improved season, Miami must now retool and reload on the offensive line
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami's offensive line last season was....not bad. Some of it's starters even got accolades but now, the entire right side is gone along with center Cory Gaynor. Unlike last time, however, Miami will not be turning to a bunch of true freshmen.

A look at Miami’s offensive line situation:

Projected depth chart
LT – #60 Zion Nelson, Sr. :: #77 Adam El-Gammal, RS-Jr.
LG – #52 Cleveland Reed Jr., RS-Sr. :: #66 Mark Sapp, Fr.
C – #72 Ty Murray, RS Jr. :: #53 Jakai Clark, RS Jr.
RG – #76 Ousman Traore, RS-Sr. :: #61 Nathan Humprey, RS So.
RT – #74 John Campbell Jr., RS-Sr. :: #75 Kevin Charles, Fr.

Expected starters: Nelson and Reed returns on the left side but it's new faces on the right. Murray, the North Carolina transfer, gets his first start while Tratore and Campbell Jr. get the nod at right tackle. Campbell started at right tackle in the 2019 season but was then benched in favor of Kai-leon Herbert for the past two seasons.

Major storyline: How will career backups Murray, Traore and Campbell fare? Keep an eye on freshmen Mark Sapp and Charles because if Traore and Campbell struggle, Diaz might pull the trigger and go with them instead and start building towards the future.

2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: Rousseau, Harvey looking to reach double-digit sack territory
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami never quite got an elite pass rusher last season and instead used a rotation of Jahfari Harvey, Cameron Williams and Greg Rousseau -- along with a ton of blitzing -- to get the job done.

The trio are now seniors and if they ever want to put together an impressive campaign to get some draft buzz, now is the time.

A look at Miami’s defensive line situation:

Projected depth chart
DE - #12 Jahfari Harvey, Sr. :: #22 Cameron Williams, Sr.
DT – #91 Jordan Miller, RS-Sr. :: #93 Jordan Tyler, RS-So.
DT – #92 Jason Blissett, Sr. :: #90 C.J. Thomas, RS So.
DE – #15 Greg Rousseau, RS-Sr. :: #16 Marcus Everett, Jr.

Expected starters: Losing Nesta Jade Silvera is a big one from both a production standpoint and leadership as Silvera was one of the more vocal Hurricanes. Miami returns three starters on the offensive line in Harvey, Blissett and Rousseau while Miller gets the promotion.

Major storyline: Is this the year that Rousseau, who everyone knows is talented, put together a ten-sack campaign?

2022 Miami Hurricanes football preview: Jones going for the sweep
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

In two seasons, Kevin Jones has two Nagurski, two Butkus' and two Bednarik's in his parents' house in Harrah, Oklahoma. With his junior and likely final season about to be set, Jones is looking forward to potentially becoming the first three-time winner of each award.

Projected depth chart
SLB - #11 Kevin Jones, Jr. :: #52 Patrick Joyner Jr., RS-Sr. :: #59 Donovan Smith, RS So.
MLB – #6 Sam Brooks, Sr. :: #9 Avery Huff, Sr. :: #58 Matt Pittman, RS So.

Expected starters: Jones and Brooks return for their third season together.

Major storyline: Jones and Brooks are likely gone next season and both their backups are seniors. Do we see a little bit of Pittman and Smith in blowout games?
