‣ Miami lands several 2020 commitments following win over Florida State

Saturday was a great day to be a Miami Hurricane as the Hurricanes defeated rival Florida State, who ranked tenth in the country. Throughout the weekend, Miami was able to receive seven verbal commitments to jump start their 2020 recruiting class.

The commits included four-star defensive tackle Jordan Tyler (New Britain, CT), three-star cornerback E.J. Bryant from local Northwestern High School, three-star offensive tackle Mark King out of South Dade High School, three-star center Dan Cook from the IMG Academy, three-star offensive tackle Dennis Garrett (Black Forest, CO) and three-star defensive end C.J. Thomas out of Boynton Beach. Two-star JUCO safety Justin Jones also announced his commitment via Twitter.

The big gets were Tyler and Bryant with Bryant having Auburn, Florida State and Georgia Tech in his top four while Tyler was pursued by Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame and Florida State.

‣ Miami looks to make big splash with out of state recruits

With Miami able to secure a lot of the local talent that they had targeted, they are now able to focus on some of the out-of-state recruits that they're going after.

Miami is considered the favorite to land five-star QB Tyrone Williams (Centreville, VA) and made the top-five for three of the top six running backs in the nation in #2 HB Brett Sharp (White Oak, OH), #3 HB Randy Battle (Central Point, OR) and #6 HB Kirk Banks (Castro Valley, CA). Miami's utilization of three running backs this season is likely what is drawing these top talents to consider going to Miami.

Five-star athletes Donald Washington (Westmont, CA) and Eddie Clark (Lusk, WY) also have Miami in their newly released top five.

Miami's roster is currently almost all Florida and Georgia players but under Manny Diaz, Miami seems to be moving towards a national brand instead of just focusing on the South Florida area.

Virginia vs. Miami Preview
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami is on a revenge tour and Charlottesville is the next stop.

Miami lost 16-13 to the Virginia Cavaliers last season which began their four game losing streak to Boston College, Duke and Georgia Tech. The next four games on their schedule, you ask? Virginia, Boston College, Duke and Georgia Tech.

Virginia is 4-1, winners of three straight after dropping a game early in the season to Indiana. Many picked the Cavaliers to win the Coastal, primarily because of the play of Bryce Perkins. Perkins has lived up to the hype, with the senior throwing for thirteen touchdowns and just one interception on the year. He's also rushed for 284 yards and two touchdowns as part of a rushing attack that has turned heads, led by Lamont Atkins who is averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

Last year was a low scoring affair with Virginia escaping with the 16-13 victory. This time, Miami's offense is a lot more explosive under offensive coordinator Dan Enos and quarterback Jarren Williams. Enos challenged his young quarterback to have a "mistake-free" game on Saturday and to limit his turnovers. He has eight interceptions on the season, a stark contrast to the risk adverse play of Perkins.

Miami cracked the top 25 for the first time all season, entering in at number 24 while Virginia remains unranked. A win for either team could go a long way of boltering their chances of entering the top fifteen by season's end and having a stronghold on the Coastal division.

Thomas, Dallas push Hurricanes past Cavaliers in 38-27 win
Jarren Williams reminded everyone that he was a freshman, throwing off his back foot which resulted in an interception. Virginia would go to score after three plays.

Williams then reminded everyone why Manny Diaz and Dan Enos chose him to be the quarterback with a touchdown throw to Brevin Jordan while rolling to his right. Williams would also help set up the game-clinching touchdown run by Deejay Dallas in Miami's 38-27 win over Virginia on Saturday.

It was a high scoring affair, a stark contrast from last season's 16-13 debacle. After both teams punted on their first possessions, they each scored on the next drive with Miami returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, courtesy of Jeff Thomas.

Each teams swapped field goals and just when Virginia thought it struck lightning in a bottle, scoring on a Bryce Perkins throw with just 22 seconds before the half, Thomas returned his second kick for the night to make it 24-17 heading into the half.

Miami surrendered a 300-yard passer and 100-yard receiver for the first time all season while also allowing the most points they've allowed all year. Miami had yet to given up more than 21 points since the Florida game.

Perkins finished the game 27 of 34 for 313 yards with two touchdowns but did throw a redzone interception to Gurvan Hall Jr. He was also sacked three times. Joe Reed had seven catches for 128 yards and one of Perkins' touchdowns.

‣ Miami adds three more to 2020 recruiting class

Despite the bye week, Miami's coaching staff kept busy, landing the verbal commitments of three players to bring the 2020 recruiting class closer to completion.

Four-star receiver Jeff Nelson out of Colton, California and three-star guard Nathan Humphrey from Southridge High School both committed to the University of Miami on Tuesday with fullback Martin Downs out of Cardinal Gibbons High School joining them on Wednesday with his announcement.

Miami now have four commits along the offensive line in three-star center Dan Cook and the pair of three-star tackles in Mark King and Dennis Garrett along with now Humphrey. Miami is likely done along the offensive line for this class.

Boston College vs. Miami Preview
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami is going down their list, crossing names of their revenge tour. They took care of Virginia, which spearheaded the four-game losing streak that crashed and burned their 2018 season, and are now onto Boston College.

Boston College finds itself in a similar position as Miami was in last season. They lost three straight games to Purdue, Temple and North Carolina State before a win against Louisville kept their bowl eligibility hopes alive. But now their next four games are against No. 19 Miami, at Virginia Tech, No. 1 Clemson and at No. 12 Florida State. If they have any hopes of finishing the season above .500, they need a win against Miami.

The Eagles lost quarterback Anthony Brown to injury early in the season to a partially torn PCL just two games into the year. Redshirt freshman Matt Valecce has struggled, completing just 38 percent of his passes and has just three touchdowns passes in his five games and four starts. Boston College has relied heavily on A.J. Dillon, who is averaging 132.2 yards per game and 5.6 yards per carry. He'll be facing off against a Miami run defense that leads the nation and a defense that's looking to bounce back after allowing twenty-seven points to Virginia. Under Valecce, the offense has yet to score over 21 points.

Back for Miami is defensive end Jonathan Garvin, who has missed the last four games due to an injury. He is rejoining a front seven that leads the nation in sacks at 27 and going up against the 102nd ranked passing offense.

The Eagles do deploy a vaunted pass defense, ranked sixteenth in the country with freshman Jarren Williams making his third road start and first true road, night game. The freshman has shown flashes, completing 71 percent of his passes with eleven touchdowns but has been prone to turnovers, leading the ACC with nine interceptions.

The Hurricanes are an eleven-point road favorite.

Miami finds groove, puts up 48 points in rout of Boston College Eagles
Delayed flights and the cold weather had Miami sleep-walking through the first few minutes of the game. Boston College's 47-yard touchdown in the first quarter woke them up.

The giant spent the rest of the day bludgeoning the Eagles.

Jarren Williams threw for over 300 yards for the first in his career and threw two touchdowns while both Deejay Dallas and Cam Harris had long touchdown runs in the 48-7 win over Boston College on Friday night.

Many of the Hurricanes players, many of them having never been outside of the south Florida weather, were wearing long sleeves and huddled up next to each other when the game was kicked off. Miami quickly found itself down 7-0 after the Eagles struck first with a 47-yard touchdown pass.

Miami would then shutout the Eagles for the rest of the game, limiting A.J. Dillon to just 3.7 yards per carry and making Matt Valecce look like the freshman that he is. Valecce finished the game with 211 yards, most of it coming in the fourth quarter.

Dallas rushed for 169 yards while Harris added another 78. Tate Martell found the endzone on a jet sweep from two-yards out while Lorenzo Lingard had a touchdown as well. Martell's former high school teammate Brevin Jordan had the first 100-yard receiving game of his promising career with eight catches for 124 yards.

Scoring Summary
Quarter 1
6:37 (BC) K. White, 47 Yd pass from M. Valecce

Quarter 2
4:47 (MIA) T. Martell, 2 Yd run

Quarter 3

3:28 (MIA) J. Thomas, returned punt 74 Yds

Quarter 4
