Keenum intercepted five times as Patriots pull away in fourth quarter against Redskins
New England's defense has been overlooked in the team's 4-0 start to the season despite them boasting the number one scoring defense.

With their offense struggling to keep the ball in their hands, the defense decided to step up and show out, carrying the load until Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots found their groove in the 40-14 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Washington held a frustrated Brady-led Patriots offense to just thirteen points in the first half and just 19 after three quarters. The Redskins defense intercepted Brady twice and caused three fumbles, two of them coming in the redzone.

The Redskins defense was unable to keep it up, not when Case Keenum started throwing four of his five interceptions in the fourth quarter which led to 21 unanswered points by New England.

Keenum boasted a 28.9 passer rating, completing just 45 percent of his 35 passes for 158 yards and five interceptions with one touchdown.

Brady ended the day 32 of 42 for 421 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. It was somehow perhaps his worst performance of the year and Brady was visibily frustrated throughout the game on the sidelines.

Brady was sacked five times.

Washington was able to slow down New England's rushing attack, ranked second in the league coming into today, holding Sony Michel to ten yards on eight carries.

New York Giants at New England Patriots Preview
DynastySports.com

The linkage between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots are plentiful.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was a long-time assistant for the Giants during their two Super Bowl run in the 80s. The Giants ended the Patriots' undefeated season in 2007 and bested them once more in the Super Bowl five years later in 2011. Eli Manning is the brother of Tom Brady's most fierce rival at the position, Peyton Manning. And on Thursday night, Brady will have a chance to give Eli a front-view showing of him breaking his brother record while the Giants will once again take the role of giant slayer, trying to end the Patriots undefeated season.

New England (5-0) is rolling, remaining undefeated through their first five games and are among just four teams that have not lost a game this season. The Patriots have been a model of consistency this season, using their passing attack to jump out on teams and then finishing them with their suffocating defense and physical running game.

For the Giants (2-3), it's been a season of ups and downs. They looked explosive against Buffalo on offense before scoring just fourteen points in Tampa. The offense and defense returned to force against rival Washington but last week, the passing attack never got going in the overtime loss to Minnesota. If this trend of wins followed by losses continue, the Giants seem prime to make a statement on national television on Thursday.

New England will try to do something no team has managed to do which is slow down second-year running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley has 356 rushing yards on the year despite facing loaded boxes. Given New York's lack of receiving talent -- their top receiver is Golden Tate with 26 catches for 355 yards -- New England figures to load the box against Barkley and force Eli Manning to beat them, which he's done twice in the Super Bowl.

Can he do it again?

Brady passes Manning to become all-time leader in passing touchdowns during win over Giants
No one wanted to catch Tom Brady's record-breaking touchdown pass more than Julian Edelman, Brady's long time friend and teammate. So when the record breaker went through Edelman's finger tips, Edelman went back and the huddle and asked for it again.

This time, it connected.

Edelman's third touchdown of the day was Tom Brady's 540th, passing Peyton Manning to become the career leading in passing touchdowns during the team's 42-10 win over the New York Giants on Thursday night.

Seven game minutes before, Brady tied the record with a 26-yard strike to Edelman into the endzone. Brady finished 24 of 30 for 310 yards and six touchdowns. His top receivers this season -- Edelman, Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon -- all got to catch a touchdown in the whooping of the Giants. But it was Edelman, the one whose been with Brady the longest, that helped him get the record.

After joining the Patriots in 2009, it took Edelman four seasons to become one of Brady's most trusted targets. The QB-turned-wide receiver finally broke out in 2013 for 105 receptions, 1,056 yards and three touchdowns, and the rest is history. Literally.

Eli Manning was on sight to watch Brady not only get his brother's record but Eli himself also threw four interceptions.

New England Patriots at New York Jets Preview
DynastySports.com

When these two teams played a month ago, New England was off to a 2-0 start while the New York Jets were stumbling out of the batter box. New England is still undefeated and the Jets, fresh off a 27-16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, are still win-less.

The Jets do have the distinct feat of being one of just two teams this season to hold the high-powered New England offense under forty points. New England has scored 42, 40 and 42 points in their last three games after scoring 31 points earlier in the year against the Jets. The Jets were able to hold New England to seven points in the first quarter and shut them out in the fourth quarter but the 24 points between the second and the third quarter countered that.

Gase also vows to stick to the rushing game more. Despite the Le'Veon Bell signing, the Jets are 28th in the league in rushing with Bell rushing the ball just eleven times last week and eight carries against the Patriots. Bell has 62 caries on the season compared to Sony Michel's 106 carries who leads the AFC in rushing yards. The Patriots will be without linebacker Kyle Van Noy who tore his shoulder in the game last week against the Giants and is expected to be out for a month.
