Despite leading most of the season, New England's defense still managed to finish just 21st in the league in rush defense. They were able to offset that with their league leading 74 sacks and 38 sacks.
how many sacks??

Patriots dominate injury riddled Cowboys to complete first Super Bowl three-peat
Leading the game from wire to wire. Complete and utter domination in the red zone. Mistake free, disciplined football. Complimentary football.

If this is the end of the New England Patriots dynasty, what a bookend.

New England relied on it's defense, forcing two red zone turnovers as the Patriots were able to win their eight Super Bowl with a 33-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys and become the first team in NFL history to win back-to-back-to-back Super Bowls.

Dallas looked impressive in the first quarter, crossing the 50-yard line on all three of their possessions but then Ezekiel Elliott left the game with a rib injury. A few players later, so did Isaiah Simmons. New England didn't miss a beat while Dallas, despite 7.1 yards per carry from backup Tony Pollard, abandoned the running game following the injury.

It didn't help that after both teams swapped field goals, Tom Brady led a twelve play drive that resulted in a touchdown. On the next drive, Dallas had the ball on the New England 31-yard line when quarterback Jordan Love was stripped and the ball was returned to the Dallas three-yard line where Ke'Shawn Vaughn punched it in. Dallas went three and out while New England put together yet another impressive eleven play drive that ended with a N'Keal Harry touchdown.

Just like that, the game went from tied up at three apiece to Dallas down 24-3.

Harry won the Super Bowl MVP with two touchdowns and 82 yards receiving.

Brady was methodical, going 27 of 32 for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He was non-committal after the game about his future but did share a very long moment with wide receiver Julian Edelman on the field after the game.
