The Monarchs spoke briefly with RB Melvin Gordon. Wasn't interested due to location. Signed with Texans shortly after speaking with team.

Football is football. The rest of it's just for entertainment. We shouldn't always take this too seriously.

MONARCHS DOMINATE CHIEFS IN UNOFFICIAL CRUMP COLISEE OPENER
Chiefs offense struggles while Monarchs roll up 451 yards in big win

A SHOT OF CRUMP COLISEE FROM HIGH UP AS MONARCHS KICKER JONATHAN BROWN PREPARES TO KICK OFF

In the NFL preseason games do not count in official statistics but the London Monarchs sure were proud to open Crump Colisee with a convincing win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Other owners in the NFL complained about the burden of travel and it's effect on the players and the Chiefs looked like it had certainly been a factor.

Patrick Mahomes went 5/10 passing for 74 yards before giving way to Joshua Dobbs who completed 5 of 11 passes for 52 yards. On the ground they were led by Damien Williams' 23 yards on 8 carries. Williams scored a first quarter touchdown, the Chiefs only score and the first ever at Crump Colisee. Tight end Travis Kelce was the Chiefsonly receiver with more than 25 yards, picking up 45 on a pair of receptions.

For the Monarchs everything was working on both sides of the ball. Josh Rosen started the game and played the entire first half, completing 13 of 23 pass attempts for 186 yards and a score with no turnovers. Ryan Fitzpatrick played two snaps to start the second half, completing a 56 yard pass to Cedrick Wilson on his first snap. He handed off on his second snap then gave way to A.J. McCarron who threw a touchdown pass to rookie tight end Bradley Blond a couple plays later. McCarron finished 6 of 7 for 62 yards and the touchdown pass and also added a one yard rushing touchdown. Newcomer Trevor Siemian played the bulk of the fourth quarter and completed 4 of 5 passes for 31 yards.

The rushing attack was far more potent than last week with Kalen Ballage leading the way with 61 yards on 17 attempts. Jordan Howard played the first couple possessions and picked up 25 yards on four carries. Fullback Chandler Cox ran 3 times for 17 yards and a score.

Monarchs' tight end Mike Gesicki caught 5 passes for 78 yards, Cedrick Wilson caught 3 passes for 74 yards and Emmanuel Sanders caught 2 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Raekwon McMillan led the team with 6 tackles.

"It was one of those games where everything clicked." Head coach Jason Garrett commented after the win. "You're looking to see how guys recover from the travel, you're getting the first team more reps and just working on the details. It was great to see but now it's back to work."

The Monarchs will stay put and host the Steelers next Saturday evening.

MONARCHS MAKE IT TWO STRAIGHT WITH BIG WIN OVER STEELERS

Once again the Monarchs offense looked sharp as the rolled up 434 yards and 42 points in taking down the Steelers at Crump Colisee, improving their preseason record to 2-1.

Josh Rosen played the entire first half and led the Monarchs to 21 points with scores coming on a 4 yard run by himself in the first quarter and touchdown passes to runningback De'Anthony Thomas and tight end Bucky Hodges in the second quarter.

In the first half Pittsburgh scored on a Jalen Samuels run, a 16 yard Ben Roethlisberger pass to Donte Moncrief and a 3 yard pass to rookie tight end Lynn Meeks, making it a tied game at 21-21 at halftime.

After an early interception thrown by A.J. McCarron led to another Roethlisberger to Meeks touchdown pass the Monarchs answered when McCarron connected with receiver Jakeem Grant on a 5 yard score in the third quarter, tying the game back up at 28-28.

London would score twice in the fourth with Trevor Siemian at quarterback, a 2 yard touchdown pass to Hodges, his second, and a 10 yard scramble score by Siemian. Pittsburgh was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, giving London a 42-28 win.

"Offense is clicking." Josh Rosen said after the game. "Doesn't matter who is on the field, seems like we're scoring. Love to see that."

Rosen finished the game an impressive 14 of 17 for 167 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. McCarron was 6 or 11 for 115, a touchdown and an interception and Siemian went 6 for 8 for 67 yards and a score.

On the ground it was Rosen leading the team with 25 yards on 2 carries, including his score. Taysom Hill carried 5 times for 24 yards and Jordan Howard gained 23 yards on a pair of carries.

Tight ends Mike Gesicki and Bradley Blond led the team with 95 and 72 yards respectively, each on 5 receptions. De'Anthony Thomas caught 5 passes as well, picking up 65 yards and a score. Emmanuel Sanders caught 2 passes for 48 yards and DeVante Parker caught a pair for 32 yards. Hodges caught 2 touchdown passes, each from 2 yards out.

Pittsburgh threw for 297 yards and ran for 67.

Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and linebacker Jerome Baker each had 5 tackles in the game while P.J. Clay, Charles Harris and Ndamukong Suh each had a sack.

London will pack up and head back to the states to finish their preseason schedule against the Seattle Seahawks.

MONARCHS SECOND HALF COLLAPSE LEADS TO SEATTLE WIN
McCarron throws two second half picks, three total

Image
A.J. MCCARRON WATCHES AS SEATTLE SCORES ON A PICK SIX

A.J. McCarron likely cost himself a spot on the Monarchs 53 man roster with his poor performance at Seattle, completing just 6 of 16 pass attempts and throwing a trio of interceptions.

"It's a game I wish I had another shot at." McCarron said following the loss. He did not comment when he was asked if he felt he deserved a spot on the roster.

Trevor Siemian went 9 of 13 for 98 yards and two scores while Ryan Fitzpatrick was 5 of 7 for 48 yards and a score.

Patrick Laird carried 6 times for 30 yards to lead the team in rushing while Myles Gaskin picked up just 6 yards on his 4 carries, he was dropped of a loss twice by Bobby Wagner who played the majority of the game for some reason.

Cedrick Wilson led the team with 55 yards on 4 receptions and De'Anthony Thomas had 47 and a touchdown on 5. Tight end Bucky Hodges and receiver Emmanuel Sanders scored the other touchdowns.

Cornerback Jomal Wiltz led the team with 7 tackles, Jonathan Ledbetter and Rahlik Long recorded a sack each.

The Monarchs have until Saturday afternoon to finalize their 53 man roster and will have some difficult choices to make in order to do so.
