Some of the knocks against Colby Porter Jr when he was coming out of college were his recklessness as a runner and injury history. He and everyone around the Panthers organization are hoping that his most recent injury is not a significant one.
Porter Jr went down late in the first quarter and was clutching his left knee before being carted off the field, he did not return to the game.

Before going down with the injury Porter Jr threw for 78 yards on five of seven passing. He was picked off once and had connected with Geraud Sanders for a 15 yard touchdown pass. He had also picked up 75 yards on seven runs.
SANDERS CELEBRATES A FIRST QUARTER TOUCHDOWN RECEPTION
Robert Griffin III replaced Porter Jr and played very well, completing 13 of 15 passes for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He ran for an additional 35 yards.
“Just be ready.” Griffin III answered when asked about his performance. “Gotta prepare like you're gonna play and be ready.”
Carolina led 7-3 when Griffin III took over. He connected with TE Ricky Seals-Jones for an eight yard score in the second quarter and Witherspoon made it 20-3 with a 26 yard field goal later in the second quarter.
SEALS-JONES HAULS INA TD PASS FROM GRIFFIN III
Miami got in the endzone for the first time late in the half on a 98 yard Jordan Howard touchdown run.
“Ugly, ugly play there.” Panthers defensive coordinator Eric Washington said at halftime. “Hate to give those ones up like that but we gotta move past it.”
Witherspoon added a 48 yard field goal early in the third quarter to extend the lead. Griffin III and Curtis Samuel connected for a 37 yard score later in the quarter, making it 27-10.

Miami's J.K. Dobbins broke off a 62 yard touchdown run just before the end of the quarter to make the score 27-17. Washington was visibly irate following the play.
Carolina held on and topped Miami 30-20 after each team added a field goal in the fourth.
Christian McCaffrey ran for 61 yards on 16 carries for Carolina. He added 57 yards on six receptions.
Curtis Samuel led the team with 71 yards and a score on four receptions. D.J. Moore had 43 yards on two catches.
Justin Herbert struggled for Miami, finishing 11 of 19 for 117 yards and an interception.
Howard and Dobbins picked up the slack, running for over 200 yards combined on just 17 carries. Parker led Miami with 40 yards on three receptions.
