TOBER SCORES ON A FIRST QUARTER PASS FROM CARR
JUST RUN THE DAMN BALL
Fassel's take Bresnahan's advice, grind out win

Stockton, California -
"We were in a gameplan meeting and Chuck just said "Just run the damn ball." John Fassel explained when asked about Pacific's run heavy attack in their narrow win over UC Davis.

Pacific improved to 4-5 with a 14-7 win over the Aggies.

The Tigers ran the ball 55 times for 268 yards and completed 6 of 12 pass attempts for 45 yards. UC Davis ran just 31 plays on offense and if not for a 52 yard pass play that was bolstered by a missed tackle they likely would have been shutout and finished with less than 150 yards of total offense. The aforementioned 52 yard play set up a 2 yard TD pass that made the score 14-7 in the fourth quarter.

UC Davis recovered their onside kick that didn't appear to travel 10 yards but the play wasn't reviewed and apparently could not be challenged, much to Fassel's chagrin.

Calhoun scrambled for 12 yards then 11 yards as Pacific was sitting in cover four. Calhoun was then sacked on three straight plays to end the game. First by Cody Temple then twice by corner Stringer Fenton.

"Stringer called his own number on that first one." Bresnahan revealed after the game. "We'd run it a bit in practice and he was lobbying for it. He made a play."

Pacific ran 36 plays in the first half while US Davis managed just ten. Pacific had the ball for over 22 minutes in the first half. Final time of possession was 45 minutes to 15.

"It wasn't the prettiest, you'd have liked to see a few more scores. But it's a win." Fassel explained.

Khalfani Muhammad ran 28 times for 115 yards and a score, Rashad Hall added 79 yards on 14 carries.
