NEWCOMERS
Pacific and BYU set to begin play in Mountain West
Image
PACIFIC, WHO FINISHED A SURPRISING 6-6 LAST SEASON, WILL NEED A BIG SEASON FROM RB KHALFANI MUHAMMAD TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST IN 2014
When Pacific restarted their football program they began searching for a conference to join before they even held their first tryouts. They agreed to a deal with the Mountain West almost immediately. Then the conference began looking for another team. BYU, which played in the Mountain West from 199-2010, agreed quickly.

With the 2014 season approaching both teams have made the transition. They will play in opposite divisions but will play each other every season on a rotating basis.

The new conference alignments are as follows:

MOUNTAIN
Air Force
Boise State
BYU
Colorado State
New Mexico
Utah State
Wyoming

WEST
Fresno State
Hawaii
Nevada
Pacific
San Diego State
San Jose State
UNLV

PACIFIC FINALIZES 2014 SCHEDULE
Will face two top 25 non-conference opponents

Pacific head coach John Fassel wanted to face a tougher schedule in 2014. The move to the Mountain West Conference naturally provided some of that but he also wanted a strong non-conference schedule. Plus, the university wanted the big payout from facing big conference schools on the road early in the season. After hosting Georgia State to start the season they will travel to USC and Oklahoma before diving into their nine game conference schedule.
