WIN OVER UTAH STATE LEADS TO BIG WEEK FOR RECRUITING
Pacific receives eight commitments
LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL RB KEELAN EMANUEL HAS SIGNED WITH PACIFIC
After a big win over Utah State Pacific had an influx of commitments, landing eight players and bringing their class up to ten signees already.
Runningback Keelan Emanuel of Lakeside, California is a three star player who is ranked as the #57 runningback in the nation. Emanuel is shifty despite his size (6'2", 211 pounds). He is a decent receiver out of the backfield as well. Emanuel chose Pacific over San Jose State.
Fullback Duval Davis Jr of Winchester, Nevada is the #22 fullback in the nation and is rated two stars. At 6'0" and 244 pounds Davis is effective as a runner and a blocker and perhaps even better as a receiver. Davis had narrowed his choices down to Pacific, Utah and Fresno State.
Guard Martin Hillman from Hailey, Idaho chose Pacific over New Mexico. At 6'5" and 293 pounds he has the size to play any position on the offensive line. He is an above average pass blocker. Hillman is the #90 guard in the nation with a three star rating.
DE Kobe Garretson is the #76 defensive end in the country, possessing a three star rating. He chose Pacific over Wyoming. He is more of a run stuffer than a pass rusher. He is a powerful tackler and he has a quick first step.
Pacific also landed a pair of defensive tackles.
Three star #64 Markell Griffin (6'1" 283) and two star #129 Cedric Boykin IIII (6'2" 340) are the additions at the position. Griffin is an inside pass rusher with a quick step and Boykin is an inside space eater who commands a double team against the run.
Safety Christian Sims-Jones is listed as the 48th best strong safety in the nation and has a two star rating. He has good speed for the position and is a solid tackler. He's not great in coverage but has shown the ability to disrupt receivers at the line. He is listed at 6'0 and 197 pounds.
Safety Earvin Newton VII is a two star ranked #49 from Waianae, Hawaii. He is a hard hitter who could very well move to linebacker. He is serviceable in zone coverage but struggles in man coverage. He is a great tackler.
