Stafford, Adams lead comeback as Huskies earn trip to franchise's first ever Super Bowl with win over Saints
Toronto Huskies general manager Louis Riddick knew that his franchise was close to being a Super Bowl caliber team. At the start of the season, Riddick and the Huskies paid a premium for New York Jets safety Jamal Adams. Within weeks, Adams was a team captain. Within months, he is now a Husky legend.

Adams' forced fumble was recovered and returned for a touchdown by Ashley Konrad, jump starting the eventual comeback win for the Toronto Huskies over the New Orleans Saints, winning 21-20 to advance to the Super Bowl.

Konrad's touchdown tied the game at 14 with 9:35 left in the game. Matt Gay kicked in back to back field goals while Stanley James missed a 54-yarder as New Orleans took the six point lead with 2:44 left in the game.

Matthew Stafford, replacing the injured Trevor Lawrence, had completions of 12 yards to Chase Claypool and then a 38-yard pass to Kyree Sampson on a dump-off in the flats to set up the 19-yard touchdown to Kenny Yeboah. Stafford finished the game 21 of 34 for 287 yards and two touchdowns along with two interceptions.

On the ensuing possession, Fields was stopped on fourth and seven as he tried to scramble out of the pocket by no one other than Keanu Neal. Neal was expected to be traded after Toronto traded for Adams but instead, the team kept both strong safeties and instead Neal became a sub linebacker and box safety.

Toronto will play the Cinderella Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl in two weeks. Lawrence, who broke his collarbone last week, will most likely not be active.

In an unlikely match up of backup quarterbacks, Toronto and Buffalo will fight it out for the crown in the north
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

During the midst of Trevor Lawrence's MVP campaign back in 2022, then Toronto Huskies Director of Player Personnel Stephon White wanted to change the team's identity or rather supplement it.

"We wanted to be more well rounded," said White, who relayed his opinion to his boss, general manager Louis Riddick.

The team then hired Todd Bowles to fix it's defense, which was ranked last in the league. They drafted two running backs in the first 60 picks of the NFL Draft, a blocking tight end in round three of the 2023 NFL Draft and drafted two more offensive linemen in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. Riddick initially hired head coach Eric Bienemy to bring the high flying, spread out offense of the Kansas City Chiefs to Toronto. White countered it with a ground and pound attack that was supplemented with a stout offensive line and play making secondary.

That's how Toronto ended up in the Super Bowl without it's Superman in Lawrence. All they need to do now is beat former third round pick and backup quarterback Tim Montague to win the franchise's first ever Super Bowl.

Montague, who entered the playoff with zero career starts, replaced the injured Josh Allen in the second half of the team's 28-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, upsetting the AFC favorites. Montague's first career start was against top seeded Miami, where Montague rode Eno Benjamin's 8.3 yards per carry to yet another upset victory.
