Yeah, almost cut him in the preseason but figured the dynamic of having T-Law + a vet as official backup + developmental guy. always was a stafford fan so kept him around. glad i did.

Huskies' James misses kick in final second as Bills rally to win franchise's first ever Super Bowl
February 2nd, 2025 -- Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, GA)
Buffalo Bills (11-8) vs. Toronto Huskies (15-3)
---------------------------
BUF - 0 / 6 / 6 / 6 // 18
TOR - 7 / 7 / 3 / 0 // 17
---------------------------
Matthew Stafford lived 23 minutes outside of Atlanta, Georgia as a kid while his father went to graduate school at the University of Georgia. Stafford would go on to attend the University of Georgia. A decade later, Trevor Lawrence similarly grew up in Georgia and surpassed Stafford as a high school phenom, with many proclaiming Lawrence to be the greatest quarterback recruit of all time.
In the heart of Atlanta, Stafford seemed to be on the way to giving the city of Toronto and his young mentee in Lawrence a Super Bowl victory. Buffalo had different plans as rookie kicker Stanley James' 53-yard field goal went wide, wide left as Buffalo against all odds defeated the Huskies 18-17.
Minutes before James' kick, Buffalo was able to kick in a 39-yard field goal by Jimmy Pearman with 52 seconds left in the game.
Toronto's strategy of keep away back-fired late in the game with Stafford missing several open targets on 3rd-and-short in an attempt to keep drives alive. After neutralizing Dalton Schultz early in the game, the tight end started making plays despite being double teamed, letting Tim Montague get back in rhythm. The backup recovered from an early interception to finish the game with 338 yards and a touchdown, earning the Super Bowl MVP.
Angel McBride seemed to be on his way to a Super Bowl MVP with 158 yards but his final yard cost him as he went out of bounds, allowing Buffalo to not have to use its timeouts with 2:38 left in the game, setting up the eventual Pearman touchdown.

That "ice the kicker" was way too overpowered. You don't have to delete this.
