All Trevor Lawrence could do last February was watch from the owners suite next to Anthony Porter as Stanley James' potential game winning field goal went wide left. He had been relegated to a spectator ever since a questionable hit out of bounds in the divisional round of the playoffs knocked him out for the playoffs. The former league MVP cheered his team from the sideline before moving to the owner's box, hoping to relieve some pressure from backup quarterback Matthew Stafford.

"I didn't want to be a distraction," said Lawrence, "I love the way the guys fought and we almost did it."

After an MVP season in 2022, Lawrence has seemingly 'almost' crossed over from elite quarterback to that different tier where you start chasing ghosts. In just his second season, Lawrence threw for over 5,000 yards and 44 touchdowns but saw an unlikely combination of Charlie Brewer and Larry Rountree lead Minnesota to an upset win the playoffs, mounting 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. He missed four games in 2023 before returning and leading the team almost to the Super Bowl before a blocked kick sent Green Bay instead.

In just his fifth season, Lawrence has a shot at being a three-time pro bowler, a one-time MVP and forever a Super Bowl champion.

Lawrence throws four touchdowns, wins Super Bowl MVP in Huskies blowout win over Browns
It didn't take long for the Cleveland Browns -- and the rest of the world -- to realize that this wasn't last year's Super Bowl where Toronto ran a conservative offense before ultimately losing to the Buffalo Bills.

By the end of the first half, Toronto had 24 points on the board and the coronation of Trevor Lawrence had began. Lawrence finished the game with four touchdowns and Toronto never trailed, leading wire to wire en route to a 44-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Lawrence threw for 400 yards, averaging a whopping 11.1 yards per attempt as the Huskies vertical passing game was too much for the Browns to handle. The Browns dug themselves a deep hole early, punting on their first drive, allowing a touchdown on Toronto's first drive and then Baker Mayfield threw an interception in the second drive which was returned to the Cleveland 2-yard line.

Cleveland lost receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to an injury in the first quarter, thrusting T.J. Vasher into the top receiver role. After a strong second half from Vasher, Toronto sicced top corner Ashley Konrad on him and held him to just one catch in the second half.
