most definitely.

I'm hearing that the final version of the gameplay mod and jerseys should be dropping by the end of next week.

Chargers exercise fifth-year option on Mike Williams
The Los Angeles Chargers have picked up wide receiver Mike Williams' fifth-year option.

The decision to exercise the option comes as unsurprising news to most. Williams will be making $15.7 million in the 2021 season, which is a significant increase from the $6.3 million he will be earning this upcoming year.

The former Clemson product has eclipsed various milestones since entering the league. Following a banged up rookie season in 2017, Williams has played a big role in the Chargers' passing attack. In 2017, he surpassed the 10-touchdown mark. Last season, Williams recorded over 1000 receiving yards and led the NFL with 20.4 yards per reception.

Should Williams have a monstrous season with either Tyrod Taylor or Justin Herbert throwing him the ball, he could be looking at a long-term deal for a decent amount of money.

Los Angeles is also expected to take an aggressive approach towards re-signing Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the upcoming season.

2020 Preseason: Training Camp Headlines
As far as they know, the Chargers have done everything right this offseason to set themselves up for an optimistic year after a disappointing 2019 campaign.

The team notably saw franchise cornerstone quarterback Philip Rivers and Pro Bowl running back Melvin Gordon III depart for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, respectively. However, general manager Tom Telesco went into the free agency period measured and calculated. He's received league-wide praise for the signings of offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga, defensive tackle Linval Joseph, and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. after reportedly striking out on Tom Brady. In addition, the Chargers secured a contract extension with breakout running back Austin Ekeler as well as kept tight end Hunter Henry in the fold for at least one more season.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, Telesco drafted Justin Herbert with the 6th overall pick and moved back into the first round to select linebacker Kenneth Murray, immediately addressing needs and setting up Herbert to be the new face of the franchise as the Chargers move into a future that features new uniforms and a new stadium.

Despite the fact that Telesco has seemingly made all the right moves, the Chargers know that the games still need to be played to determine to advances to the postseason. Here are some things to keep track of throughout the preseason.

  1. The Quarterback Battle between Herbert and Tyrod Taylor
Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn has been on record saying that Taylor is "in the driver's seat" when it comes to the starting role. However, a strong preseason from Herbert could change his opinion. From his athletic ability to his personality, the rookie has done everything to impress the Chargers thus far. Lynn, of course, would like to see that translate to on-the-field success.
    -
  2. Expiring Contracts
Telesco navigated his way through the offseason with much success, but the path gets tougher in 2021. The Chargers have more than two dozen players whose contracts are set to expire, including receiver Keenan Allen, defensive ends Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa, tight end Hunter Henry, and defensive back Desmond King. Expect negotiations to go deep into the season.
    -
  3. The situation with Nasir Adderly
The second round pick in 2019 is coming off a disappointing season in which it took longer than expected for him to return from a hamstring strain. Adderley's main goal this season is to get fully healthy and earn a role defensively, possibly as a nickel defender or third safety. The Chargers could use someone with Adderley's versatile skill set to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. With how deep the Chargers are in the secondary, it will be up to him to carve a role.
    -
  4. Speaking of the secondary, who starts opposite Casey Hayward?
Los Angeles made it clear to Chris Harris Jr. that he will spend most of his time as the team's slot defender, leaving a void for the second cornerback spot opposite Hayward. Michael Davis and Brandon Facyson seem to be the main candidates here.
    -
  5. Who starts in the slot at wide receiver?
It's unclear who is next in line after Allen and Mike Williams. Andre Patton, Jason Moore, and Jalen Guyton are still here after the Chargers decided to let Travis Benjamin walk in the offseason. The team also used the draft to add Joe Reed and K.J. Hill. There's no doubt that the Chargers have plenty of offensive weapons for their quarterbacks to distribute the ball to, but this unknown at slot receiver is something that they'd like to clear up before the regular season.
