Justin :blessed:

Good to see Cam Newton doing it up big in New England. Also, getting throttled by KC and Christian McCaffrey must have seriously hurt your feelings.
Belichick better be reading this chise and sign Cam.

Tom Brady's career in Tampa Bay hasn't been so hot, even though the weather in Tampa is. Thought of as a serious playoff contender following the addition of Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski, the first 3 games suggest that the Buccaneers have not come together as a team yet.

Brady has completed only 50 percent of his passes for 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, and part of it has to do with the lack of time he's had in the pocket. Rookie Tristan Wirfs, who the Bucs traded up to select in the first round, has struggled and will be a big target for defensive end Joey Bosa, who's coming off a 2-sack game last week against the Panthers. After a strong outing against Teddy Bridgewater last week, can the Chargers secondary do it again versus Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Josh Gordon, and a future Hall of Famer in Brady? Despite being ranked 18th in total offense, the Buccaneers have managed to score points and currently rank 4th in that category.

If anything the one thing Los Angeles' defense would like to improve on is their run defense, which allowed Christian McCaffrey to go berserk. Tampa went out and signed Lamar Miller earlier this season, and he's already registered 4 touchdowns. He's attempting to bounce back from a torn ACL he suffered while with the Houston Texans in 2019.

The matchup will also mark as Justin Herbert's starting debut. How much the Chargers will open up the playbook for the rookie has yet to be seen, but head coach Anthony Lynn hinted earlier this week that the focus will be on ball control. Typically, that means emphasizing the ground game and limiting turnovers. After committing another 3 turnovers last week, the Chargers currently rank last in turnover differential. Combining that stat with a rookie quarterback making his first start, expect Austin Ekeler as well as Justin Jackson to get more touches as a result.

Brady reaches a new low in loss to Chargers
Never before has Tom Brady thrown 5 interceptions in a game in his 20-year career. That was the case until today.

The combination of Brady's collapse and Los Angeles' aggressive defense led to a convincing defeat for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who now hold a 1-3 record and are perhaps seeing the chances of missing the playoffs become more and more of a reality by the day. And even worse, the NFL may have seen the last of Brady's best days. After connecting with Mike Evans on an 8-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, everything went downhill for the Bucs offense.

The Chargers were not shy about meeting Tampa's impressive group of receivers at the line of scrimmage, playing press coverage with every chance they had. Chris Godwin left the game in the first quarter and did not return, only making the secondary's day less stressful. Mike Evans was limited to 3 receptions. Rob Gronkowski caught 4 passes for 31 yards. The Los Angeles secondary was aided by a swarming pass rush that got to Brady 5 times in the game - 4 of the sacks were recorded by Joey Bosa, who lined up opposite of rookie offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs. The ability to gain pressure on Brady forced errant passes, with his first mistake coming in the second quarter when Chris Harris Jr. returned a pick for a touchdown.

Harris would intercept Brady once more late in the game in the end zone. Desmond King II also came away with 2 interceptions. Even rookie safety Alohi Gilman got in on the fun for the Chargers. The Chargers forced 7 turnovers to the delight of any fantasy owners that started their defense. The one sore spot for Los Angeles? Being gashed on the ground once again for a big run when Lamar Miller housed a 70-yard touchdown in the 3rd quarter.

Brady's abysmal performance may have overshadowed Justin Herbert's first start at quarterback, who played more than well in his debut. He completed 24 of 33 passes for 231 yards and 1 touchdown. More importantly, he did not turn the ball over nor did the Chargers offense. The team was well-balanced throughout the game, also rushing for 162 yards led by Austin Ekeler's 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Herbert also hooked up with former Oregon teammate Dillon Mitchell for the receiver's first career touchdown on a touch pass that's become widely popular in today's NFL.

The dominating win pushes the Chargers back to .500 and gives them much-needed momentum heading into next week's Monday night contest against the New Orleans Saints and former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees.

Newton continues ascension while Brady falls flat
The difference between the Patriots and Buccaneers couldn't be more clear after 4 weeks. Tampa Bay is 1-3 and New England is 4-0. Tom Brady's departure from Foxborough will never be forgotten, while Cam Newton's arrival may be one to never forget as well if he leads the Patriots to the promised land following 20 years of Brady. New England's notable additions of Newton as well as Jadeveon Clowney have put themselves in a position as possibly the team to beat in the AFC after a 42-7 thrashing of the Chiefs on the road. Meanwhile, Brady and the Bucs will need to find their way back into the playoff talk following a 13-40 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that saw them turn the ball over 7 times - 5 of which were committed by the 43-year old.

Steelers struggling to find rhythm after Week 1 shutout
Pittsburgh destroyed the New York Giants in their season opener, scoring 43 points, but since that shutout the Steelers have scored a total of 15 points in their last 3 games. The 3 consecutive losses put them near the bottom of the AFC North, just ahead of the winless Cincinnati Bengals. Ben Roethlisberger has thrown 1 touchdown and 5 interceptions in those losses. To make matters worse, defensive end Stephon Tuitt has been ruled out for the season after tearing his PCL.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After starting slow, Bears back to .500
Perhaps it just took a little time for Nick Foles and the Bears to find their rhythm. In their last 2 games, Chicago's averaged 28.5 points per game, which has helped them won back-to-back contests. Foles played well enough to earn NFC offensive player of the week honors. They are one game back of the Vikings and Packers in the NFC North, which could shape up to be one of the more competitive divisions this season.
