Top ranked QB Griffin commits to USC as Bulls now zero in on Harrell as QB for the class
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

After not taking a quarterback in the 2018 recruiting class, USF is a very active participant in this cycle's quarterback class. The Bulls saw one of their top targets, quarterback Pete Griffin out of Deerfied Beech commit to the USC Trojans.

With Griffin off the board, USF is now focusing on quarterback Michael Harrell who they offered a scholarship a few weeks ago. Harrell is a six-foot-two, 213 pound four-star quarterback out of Miami, Florida.

While Griffin is viewed as a ready-made quarterback, Harrell is considered a project despite being the second ranked quarterback albeit in a down year at the position.

2019 Recruiting Class
ATH Marcus Hines [ATH #3]: 6'2", 179lbs | Tampa, FL | 5-star
LB Stephen Hill [LB #17]: 6'4", 249lbs | Weslaco, TX | 4-star
TE Brian Knox [TE #51]: 6'4", 252lbs | Lauderdale Lakes, FL | 3-star

Despite up and down performance, freshman QB Johnson appears to be the guy for the Bulls
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

David Johnson didn't light the world on fire in his debut against Florida, throwing for 247 yards and a mind-blogging interception into double-coverage.

But when you consider virtually no running game, several drops and some of the big hits he took as well as the constant pressure, it's clear that the Georgia product is not only the quarterback of the future but also the present.

While head coach Malcolm Francois refused to name a starter before -- or after -- the Florida game, his actions spoke louder than his words. Steven McKenzie nor Mario Greer never once warmed up during the game, even when Johnson threw the interception. This came to no one's surprise once Johnson completed his first ten passes and looked in command of the offense.

During this week's press availability, Francois once again declined to name a starter but all signs point to Johnson starting this week against Illinois.

Surprised to see the run play after seeing how they stifled the ground game all night. Tough loss in the opener.

makes two of us. i think florida's speed was just too much for our 85 speed running backs so they could never bounce any runs.
