Jackson dominates through the air and on the ground as Bulls beat Gators 38-23
Former USF offensive coordinator Mario Greer had a hand in the recruitment and development of several players on Saturday night that found their way into the endzone. Unfortunately for Greer, none of them played for his team.

Greer's first three games as Florida's head coach have all been losses with the latest one coming at the hand of his mentor and former school, losing 38-23 to the USF Bulls on Saturday in a game that was more lopsided than the score suggested.

Florida hung tough for the first half before USF was able to get their second touchdown of the night on Derek Young's touchdown with 31 seconds left in the half to make it 17-9. The Gators had success offensively both running the football with Kyle Clemens and throwing it but managed to score just one touchdown in their three red zone visits which allowed USF to take the lead despite Florida dominating the time of possession for most of the first half.

Jeff Jones would throw two more touchdowns before Florida would get on the board once more and once it did, USF responded with a 75-yard catch and run by Bobby Jackson on the first play of the ensuing drive.

Jackson led the game in both rushing and receiving with 121 yards on the ground and 102 yards receiving. Jones finished with 290 yards passing and four touchdowns with no turnovers.

The Gators were able to score a late touchdown and two-point conversion with USF's second team defense in to make the score more respectable.

Bulldogs defeat #6 USF in historic upset for Georgia
Even the Georgia fateful kept waiting for the USF Bulls to flip the switch, turn it on and go on an unanswered run.

It just never came, not until it was too late.

USF made it interesting in the end, forcing two fumbles in the last three minutes of the game but their Hail Mary attempt fell well short as Georgia was able to hang on and beat No. 6 USF 41-35 on Saturday to pull off the historic upset.

The Bulldogs ran up and down and all around the USF defense and sometimes through them to the tune of 186 yards on the ground with four rushing touchdowns. On the other side, USF's offense also went up and down the field but their three turnovers, all interceptions from Jeff Jones, would prove to be costly. One of them was in the endzone early in the first half while the other was on a wide open throw to Chris Wallace up the sideline that was overthrown and resulted in an interception that led to Georgia's first touchdown of the night.

Despite these struggles, USF managed to make it a 17-10 game with 5:48 left in the game before Bobby Jackson, their star running back, would leave the game with an injury and not return. Both teams swapped touchdowns before Sisk got behind the defense for a 62-yard touchdown.

William Jones, replacing the injured Jackson, got in the endzone once more to make it 31-24 but Georgia responded with a touchdown as well and on the ensuing possession, intercepted Jones on 3rd and 20 after a first down was negated by a block in the back penalty.

USF put up a fight at the end, forcing a turnover after Keith Oliver's touchdown with 2:16 left in the game but were forced to kick a field goal to make it a one possession game. They once again failed to recover the onside kick and after using their timeouts, had just one second left for a Hail Mary. True freshman quarterback Joey Spence came in for Jones and his strong arm would be too much, overthrowing all of his receiver as the ball bounced into the endzone.

USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. defended the decision to bring in Spence for the final play and said it had nothing to do with Jones' three interceptions.

"If we had to get a yard on the ground," said Francois Sr. "We'd probably bring in Jared [Barr], he's our fastest quarterback so we need to get sixty, seventy yards on one play? Put in Joey [Spence], it's that simple."

USF star running Jackson to miss the rest of the season with collarbone injury
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles

USF sophomore running back Bobby Jackson will miss the rest of the season after breaking his collarbone against Georgia last week, USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. confirmed to the media on Wednesday.

Jackson was averaging 126.3 yards per game this season and 8.7 yards per carry, improving from his true freshman campaign that saw him rush for 1,173 yards and fifteen rushing touchdowns while also winning the Jet Award for the nation's top returner, averaging 42.5 yards per kickoff return.

The loss of Jackson puts more pressure on junior quarterback Jeff Jones who threw three interceptions in the loss to Georgia. Senior running back William Jones (3.9 yards per carry this season) along with redshirt sophomore Jason Gibson (1.0) and true freshman Dionte McCarthy (9.3) will try to replace Jackson's production.

Jackson caught 51 passes last season as well, a facet of his game that former high school receiver McCarthy might be better equipped to replace. Jones also caught 22 passes as a sophomore.
