USF and UCF's Power 5 hopes dwindling as Big 12 makes push for return of Nebraska and Colorado in upcoming expansion vote
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles

For the last few years, USF and UCF have been trending towards receiving an invitation to join the Big 12 as the conference looks to expand to twelve teams. At least that was the narrative publicly but as as the conference nears a league-wide vote on deciding which teams to invite, the top teams aren't located in Florida.

Instead, reports are that the Big 12 is looking to add former members Nebraska and Colorado in hopes of reuniting the once proud conference. Third on the list are Texas schools Houston and SMU although Texas officials are rumored to be against adding another Lone Star state school to the mix.

Where does that leave USF? Rumors of an SEC play quickly died down and without an independent, viable TV network, the Independent route is still long ways to go. The Bulls have made a push recently to schedule tougher out of conference games against Power 5 schools and it has generated quite a bit of revenue. A move to be Independent would allow the Bulls to schedule a Power 5 laden schedule similar to Notre Dame filled with the top Florida schools, UCF and perhaps more national brands such as Stanford and Oklahoma.

Best not put those bums from Colorado in the B12, they're gonna regret it. (From a Colorado native).
